Engineers SRV dropping through the planet surface

I just thought I would upload a video of the joy of exploring under the surface of the planets for anyone who hasn't experienced it first hand.
I was a bit shocked and flustered so you you will have to excuse the flailing about that goes on.
Anyway It will give you an idea of how much fun can be had when you find yourself under the planet.
Hopefully someone will watch this and be a little bit better prepared if they find themselves in the same situation.

Its hollow... there can only be one explanation...

I have not watched the video but -

- when spawning beneath the planet surface happens to me (on resuming game) - I just quit and restart in different modes until I eventually get spawned on the surface again.

Hi Malc, that never worked for me or i did not try relogging enough (Tried 7 times to solo, to open, to PG, then all the way to desktop twice, then 2 more modes)

Had to self destruct to get out of the damn Planets interior. Fortunately only lost the SRV, but still a bind non-the-less

Sorry to hear that - can you just clarify one point please:

On loss of the srv did your ship still have the "materials" that you had before deploying the SRV?

Can't answer that Malc, as at that stage on Saturday, i had not started to collect materials. I was doing my first ever surface mission to gain access to a surface stn data link......... Which is another story as no matter how i tried and bound different controls, i could not get the SRV data link scanner to operate, so failed mission, and a self destruct....Nice one. I hate the surface and now stick to space, but i know some of the things i will need on on the surface, so gonna have to get back down there soon.... Doh!

I've had this happen to me loads of times, each time with less and less panic. All I did was quit to main menu and load back in again. I spawn just above the surface with the ship available to be called in. Never suffered anything worse than this when it happens.

I have also had a single occurrence of boarding my ship and finding the HUD remains the same i.e. no ship around me. I did the same trick and I spawned back correctly.

No worries, get back in your SRV - it is great fun - I spend far too much time in them.

Data-link - when you target a data-point (you have to target anything on the surface to interact with it) if you then press your fire button 2 (or whatever that is set to for you) - the data link scanner then works, it takes a few seconds and there is an animation to tell you it is going on then it gives you a completion message ("intel packet prepared" - or something like that) and you will then find an entry in your transactions tab.

You might end up getting annoyed at trying to find metallic meteorites though, that is what keeps me on surface so long. ;)
