SRV fun, then ooops

... you misjudge the stunt and go flying off a cliff !

Or more likely, die trying to get he SRV into orbit :D

So, sorry if i have missed this, but if you die in your SRV, what happens to your ship ?

It was said today in the stream that you can carry multiple SRV's in case one gets destroyed, I therefore rightly or wrongly assume you respawn in your ship to go again (if you have more) :)

It mourns the loss and then takes vengence against those responsible.

Awesome :D

Which leads me to think of this scenario...

I leave the ship, with its hard points deployed, driving around, exploring, i get attacked from the air, i rush back to my ship, dodging the fire, seeing the ground explode around me where shots hit the dirt, finally i am in range, the turrets on my ship start firing, i see the bolts of energy flying over my head from the pulse turrets, hitting the ship above me, it tries to escape, but its too late, it explodes and showers the surrounding area with debris.

In the alpha version it is more like this:

Your ship will be towed and salvaged, your corpse will be frozen, cut into many parts and sold at "Ferenginar" of course.

I might partake in one of two scenarios.

What happens to your ship if you turn your Life support off and wait till the air runs out?

You manually mix Matter, Anti-Matter and "doesn't matter", then create a gigantic fusion reaction resulting in ship destruction.
In the end a failsafe will protect you, eject you in a lifepod and magically spawn O2 in your cabin to safely bring you home.

Thanks, had missed that. That's disappointing. Though does point to them being something you buy

If you missed it the key points I took from it were:
They have guns
They have minimal heat so are almost impossible to be locked onto by a ship flying overhead
They are very manoeuvrable and small
There are small enemy vehicles (skimmers) controlled by remote operators, some smaller faster, some bigger stronger. They defend the fortified stronghold type things and can be disabled by knocking out a local relay since they only have short range communications.
The first type (there will be many types of SRV's eventually) is designed to basically have fun with on the planets and shouldn't cost anywhere near as much as a ship to replace.

Thanks. Guns, mmm, hopefully my C4 cannon will fit :D

The more I hear about SRVs, the more I think they should make them unmanned. Remote control vehicles would make a lot more sense if they're going to allow you to return to your ship (magically) when it's destroyed. It would solve some of the issue of your ship being attacked when you're on the surface as well, you just exit the SRV screen and are back in your cockpit to handle the issue.

If they make them manned like it sounds they plan to, it creates too many immersion issues regarding instant teleportation or the inability to take control of other people's ships while they're out exploring the planet.

New update from the latest stream the buggy fits inside the cargo hatch and we should look closely at the back underside of the upcoming Federal Gunship. :D I sense oversized cargo hatch for oversized buggies but I may be wrong since I haven't actually looked myself.
