Newcomer / Intro SRV Motion Sickness

Yes I've adjusted graphics settings but holy balls, the SRV tutorial made me instantly sick. Is there a way to change it to a 3rd person POV? Reducing or disable the bouncing?

You can still control the SRV while the external camera is active, but there is no way to get the HUD in a 3rd person view. No way to soften the bouncing, that I'm aware of.

Edit: See post #5.

You can also drive it from the turret view, which is close to 3rd person with HUD, but you won't have the radar still.

Apart from that, take your time and drive slow, you'll get used to it over time if you don't overdo it and train your brain to associate SRV with sickness.

Try shifting your head and leaning left when turning left and lean right when turning right. That helped me when playing in VR.

I'm assuming you probably are in VR ... I had exactly the same originally, fine in most aspects of the game but REALLY nauseous in the SRV. What I did was just build up my tolerance to it very gently. Do a tiny bit of SRV, then as soon as I started to feel funny get back in the ship and go do something else. Over the course of a couple of weeks it got better and better and now I don't have an issue at all really. The only other thing I did was get a clip-on desk fan which blows cool air at my face.

Actually I'm not in VR, my body hates me that much. VR for the most part doesn't make me sick but I haven't gotten my own gear yet and I moved away from my sister who is the one who has the set that I played on. I always have to disable motion blur in games. My husband never gets to drive, I can't go on small boats. I'll try the turret view. And I finished the training tutorial crawling, and closing my eyes or looking away from the monitor when I accidentally sent myself rocketing or tumbling. Thanks everyone!

Yeah. The placing of these toggles in the settings is... let's say, less than fortunate. :D

It's much older than I figured it was too...added all the way back in 2.1.

I rarely open the actual graphics options in-game as I have an LOD value set past what the slider allows and applying anything in-game resets this. Settings are also stored across three different files: quality settings are in Custom.fxcfg; resolution and refresh rate are in DisplaySettings.xml; while the FOV and VR settings, including the option to disable screen shake are in Settings.xml...which I happen to use the least.

One of the first things I did before I even launched the game. Doesn't help for the SRV. Thanks though. I always turn off camera shake/motion blur due to motion sickness.
Yes, the camera shake reduction is only minor, but did you try to fix the camera to the horizon? I use it in VR.
It's challenging on slopes but for general driving it helps a lot.
