SRV Outfitting or Presets

How viable is that?

Having basic weapon and defence outfitting or SLF style presets for the SRV instead?

I'd absolutely love it, especially if each weapon on the turret was independent.
We currently get a "dual" plasma repeater, and a data link scanner.
If we were able to mess with firegroups in the SRV, we could separate the SRVs turrets in to individual weapons, and place the data link scanner and counter measures in various firegroups.

With the upcoming buff to sentry skimmers, this could be what we need to survive those already difficult base assaults.

Here's a few weapons and defence I'd like to see made usable from the SRV, with relevant sizes and balanced of course.

•Beam/Pulse/Burst lasers
•Multi Cannons
•Cannons (aka, tank SRV!)
•Dumb fire missiles/rocket packs
•Guided Missiles
•Land Mines (don't explode on impact with surface)
All able to be loaded independently on the turret mount ideally.

For defences, I'd like SRV sizes for
•Point Defence
•ECM
•Chaff
•Heat sink? (Can SRVs overheat?)
These can just be glued on somewhere unimportant. Lol

I'd personally love my SRV to have a single plasma repeater, and a guided missile rack, with chaff for defence, especially from ships.

@OP, nice idea, I would like to expand on it.

I would love to see the SRV Outfitting, though not only with combat in mind. I would also love to see an option to harvest materials without having to shoot them, have bnetter sensors or allow ship repair.

How about module slots:

- Turret slot
- Utility slot

Turret slot would allow the player to choose from:
  • several weapon types - energy, projectile, etc. (along the lines what the OP suggested)
  • long range sensors (allowing objects such as nodes to be seen on the radar sooner/longer, and even allowing POI's to be seen there from afar)

Utility slot would allow the player to choose from:
  • defensive modules such as shield booster, ECM/chaff, point defense, etc.
  • exploration module, allowing the collection of mineral samples (giving bonus to exploration data value) and mining the nodes without the need to shoot them, also giving the exploration of planets/moons within the Bubble a new meaning
  • repair module, allowing us to repair the hull and perhaps the power plant of our ship from the outside (perhaps using smaller version of limpets - mini repair limpets?), much like the AFMU, using materials, refillable
  • cargo module, allowing more than 2 units of cargo to be collected (ideal for planetary cargo/pods salvage runs)

There could be ready-to-go presets available (missile SRV with anti-missile countermeasures, exploration SRV, repair SRV, cargo salvage SRV, etc.). This would also give Frontier an option to expand the offer in the store with many SRV centered cosmetic items, such as new sets of antennae, decals, paintjobs, perhaps SRV cockpit variations...

Carrying more SRV's in one's ship would suddenly become a thing to be considered seriously, not just to "carry a spare in case I screw up".

And of course, replace the turret with a cargo pod for a few extra tonnes.

Carrying multiple different loaded SRVs would be great. And a game changer.

I'd still be perfectly happy with station outfitting of SRVs though.

I dont understand why we cant synthesize our modules on the fly. A one time schematic purchase. Infinate, materials limited, synthesis.
