It doesn’t make sense to perform planetary scan, recon, or infiltration of a settlement that is under the jurisdiction of the very same superpower that you so carefully and tirelessly grind to gain a decent standing with. The quest specifically states that these actions are considered illegal, which leads to bounties, unwanted fines and massive reputation loss with both your superpower and the factions you do the work for. How can I continue to excel and push forward when I’m thwarted by things like this? If anything there should be enemy or unknown mini-settlements that have nothing to do with the current superpower that are available for that sort of work that won’t impact anything else.

As a fan of these, to see them just ruined like that I also found upsetting.
Then I learned a trick of only picking these up from low security systems.
You have to accept being restricted to these or forced into stupidity unfortunately.

I like the variety of these missions, fly there, find the target, land a couple clicks away, search for materials while traveling, Lil bit of combat, scan, recall and make 3 - 4 mill or more. My type of missions, just need more, dare I say, Variety.
It's boring to cross a couple of clicks of barren desert with hardly any rocks to avoid,
We need fields of boulders to navigate to the target, or it could be on an island between 2 cracks, as a stronghold on the side a cliff, (so many possibilities)
We have barely any crashed ships or satellites, Ships could be branded as previous failed attempts with maybe a lump r 2 of cargo when discovered -
Satellites could be destroyed observation probes with a couple of data points to collect that was shot down by that controlling faction.
We should have to figure out a plan to get to that mission target.
Instead of 2 or 4 defense cannons inside a perimeter, they could be placed at random hidden locations along the route to get there,
Patrol skimmers should have a longer range detection and combat capability, maybe some patrol SRV's to avoid or destroy.
