SRV sinking below surface like a submarine

I've been prospecting raw materials the last few days, but yesterday I ran into something new. The problem continues today despite shutdowns, restarts and moving to a new planetary body. The problem is that the SRV suddenly sinks below the surface of the ground. Feels like a submarine diving, but the region below the surface is very surrealistic: rocks floating freely, geysers spouting but nothing is around them, large formations in the distance are inverted and in view, etc. I can do what I'm trying to accomplish, but the "reality" of the game is shattered. Anyone else seeing this?

Have seen it in the past, very disturbing. There are moments when you dip below the surface and there's nothing beneath but stars. As Factabulous says, it's often to do with graphics drivers, but I've also noticed that the longer you spend on the surface, the more likely it is to happen. It's like the game gradually loses track of where zero height is. Qutting to the main menu and resuming often works, but updating your drivers is never a bad idea anyway.

I'll check the drivers, but as for returning to the main menu, I ran into the problem yesterday. Went to bed, came back today, same problem. Complete power down and restart.

Some planets are a bit dodgy. I found one with all the rocks floating 2 feet off the ground.

Try a few other planets, and if the problem persists see your doctor or lodge a support ticket.

Thanks for all the comments. I will keep them handy. I did update my video drivers. They were woefully out of date. Things are working well now, at least on the latest moon I tried. I will certainly keep the GPUWorkTtable fix at hand should this pop up again.
