My experience differs it never used to be an issue. I can't remember when this started to happen but I'm sure it was OK in 2.?. It's besides the point really, it's just a bugbear of mine that grates on me when I'm mats collecting in the SRV. I'd like to see it fixed as I'm sure a lot of others would too, so hence my post to raise the visibility of the Issue I raised for it. If nothing comes of this then so be it.

I was beginning to think this was deliberate to force us to use the turret more...

I think it has been an issue from as long as i remember visiting brain trees and ofc the afterwards the "newer" POIs. I just use the turret mode, as i don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon.

Heh,

I thought I'd noticed this but just dismissed it as me getting too use to the superior accuracy available from the turret.

I rarely used the turret but unlocking the Guardian tech' (pre-update) taught me how to use the turret and now I rarely try to shoot at stuff from the SRV cockpit.
Since 3.3 went live I've been collecting mat's from surface POIs and I've felt like I can't hit anything from the cockpit but I assumed that was just cos I've got so used to using the turret.

Never had to use the turret for shooting rocks/collecting mats, but that changed with the 3.0 version and concentrated fields of rock pillars with embedded goodies.
