So I've had this idea for a while about SRV time trials for a while now, and I thought I'd just put it here if anyone wants to compete in it. Basically, I give you a set of coordinates and an end point, you go to those coordinates and make a video of yourself getting to the endpoint as fast as you can. Post a link to that video here, and I'll make a leader board.
So there are 2 races, the first starts on the lip of a crater and is 37km down to Vlamingh Barracks. The second starts on the wall of the crater, but in this trial you can't uses your thrusters for more than 1 second at a time, so no surfing. the trial is over as soon as you touch any part of the Vlamingh Barracks including defense turrets.
Both races are on Benoit 3 in the Benoit system.
the Surf Trial begins at -24.8940, -162.4341, this is exactly 37km from Vlamingh Barracks. Surf down the side of the crater as fast as you can using your thrusters as much as you want.
The Turf trial begins at -24.5503, -162.0636, also exactly 37 km from Vlamingh Barracks. Get to the Barracks as fast as possible, but limit your thrusters to 1 second bursts only, no surfing.
a few rules
-Start the trial on the hour or half hour exactly using your in game clock. Also, make sure the clock is visible the moment you touch the base to make it easier to time.
-You don't don't need to start exactly on the coordinates, just as close as possible, but you must start exactly 37.0km from Vlamingh Barracks
-No repairing during the race, you may give yourself a "premium repair" before the race though.
-No surfing when doing the turf trial.
Just as a reference, it took me 26 minutes to do the surf trial.
