SRV Turret needs a search light

You're in your SRV and something comes up behind you. You jump in your turret, turn around and can't see jack.
Pilots would be clammoring for an optional light to attach to the turret so they can SEE what they're looking at.
Please add a Turret Light as a purchasable or Engineering option.

I've asked for that in one of their stream last year and people in chat laughed at me for suggesting it... Bruce read my message and if I recall correctly he didn't see it necessary so no need to pass it forward to developers...

Night Vision does work, but I like the idea. I've set up my controls to allow me to drive while turreted with reasonable success in navigating guardian sites and have found myself thinking that it would be good if there was a searchlight that could be switched on/off that followed the turret line of sight.

If it is dark I use only night vision. I have never used the light of the SRV or a ship

basically this

Well, they've showed that they can actually add extra lights to ships as a simple ARX purchasable add-on - i'm referring to Hazzard packs.
They could definitely add Light Bar to the SRV turret - but it will obviously cost some dev/qa time and... well...

Agree with the OP - asked for several times in the past - it makes sense to have a trainable searchlight on an exploration vehicle anyway. Yes NV can (and must) be used at the moment but not to have a searchlight is just sloppy "it will do as it is" thinking from the devs (not for the first time).

Yeah, all good with night vision, but my PC is ready to spontaneously combust at any moment running ED, if I'm going to be taking that risk, I prefer to see without an eye sore of a green overlay over everything.

I agree the SRV turret should have the housing assembly for the lights. When locked forward, they shine forward. When in turret mode, they shine in the direction of the turret facing. Night vision is the substitute to see targets where lights do not shine in turret mode; but it would be nice when you may need to see an object outside night vision mode.

You still have night vision, right?
Maybe IR would be a good addition.
Maybe you have no real combat experience, but a big shiny light just tells enemies WHERE to concentrate their fire.
They do need to Chill in the Jitter on Plasma, though! Ridiculous you can't hit anything at 30m! But the Scarab has a much better turret than the Scorpion? No, no, no .
Or give me the option of the Scarab Turret!
And Scorpion needs a tad more boost - just another second.

IR would be cool for sure.

Totally agree, for that scenario a light far from ideal, however, combat isn't the only situation to consider, and for those other scenarios I still reckon a light is a good option to have.

Yes yes yes yes yes. My parents bought me a Vauxhal Viva for £50 in 1992 and I managed to add extra lights for the same amount.
But in space with 40 ton engine replacements happening in 5 seconds and extensive engineering modifications costing 3000cr I understand that four halogen bulbs in a plastic casing would be a risible suggestion.

The training missions definitely need more work. I'm 100 hours in and didn't know that the SRV had NVG.

NVM.
