Seriously contemplating an ssd . Would like to know if it dramatically increases the loading time of E.D. Answers please.

Not seeing anything significant load time in ED or other games, however OS load time is extremely fast around 20 seconds from cold for me.

I've found that an SSD speeds up those games that keep going back to the HDD. I haven't seen ED/H do that, but I haven't tried it without an SSD either.

I agree with Asp Explorer that you'll like an SSD. It might be for other reasons, such as speedy reboot times though.

I have Samsung 500g Evo is far faster than any 7200rpm I have ever had. You will not go back once you have one. ED loads fast for me anyway and never had it on a spin drive.

Same for me. I run my OS and one game on an SSD, and everything else is stored on an HDD. My computers boot-up is insanely fast. Better than my own computer, when u could hit the power button and then leave to make and eat breakfast.

Night and day. Less so for something like ED where the textures are dynamically generated but there's no other upgrade that comes close to the responsiveness you get from an SSD.

Agree with most others SSD is excellent but the thing that's going to speed up Elite loading is a better graphics card. Got four small SSD's with RAID 5 on them, boots in no time and that includes the RAID setup kicking in.

Having an SSD made worlds of difference for a lot of my games loading times. Can't specifically say for ED, but I do know that it was one of the best/cheapest upgrades I made to my rig.

I seem to remember a bunch of predictions a few years ago about how SSDs would've made HDDs completely obsolete by now. Too bad that hasn't actually materialized. Seems like the exorbitant price of SSDs is here to stay, especially in light of recent advances in HDD technology.
