SSSHHHHH! [Fed ships with no rank requirements!)

So, thanks to Obsidian Ant, I just learned that the Assault Ship, Dropship and Gunship are currently available WITHOUT FEDERATION RANKS!

I just dashed out and got 3!!!

The Corvette isn't included by the way.

Go have fun!!!

Apparently its due to a current CG - sorry no idea when that ends but OA suggests it might be TEMPORARY so act soon commanders and fly with fun!! [haha]

Is the FAS a good ship for shooty action? I'm flying an Aap-X and have had fun exploring the galaxy, but I want to do more shooty stuff so I'm not sure what ship to buy. I have 170 million in the bank if that helps.

It's a shame we can't at least pay double or even triple the regular price for the corvette so the rank grinders can't say they were slapped in the face.

Hmm more combat loggers in Corvettes because of double or triple rebuy credits?
Bad idea IMO :|

To OP:
They have also 17% reduced price which is also applied on rebuy. Makes it worth to buy and equip later for some people :)

Cutter? Yeah it does take a while. I reckon it will have taken me about 35 hours of gameplay to get from zero to Duke. It did take me a while to get the hang of the most expeditious way of doing I though so I wasted a good deal of time at the start figuring it out for myself (I prefer to learn the hard way rather than youtube it!).

I'd like ships to be MISSION LOCKED rather than simply rank locked - sorta like a boss fight at every level to get the prize - could be multiple chained goals that needed to be completed escalating in difficulty as you rank up - doesn't need to be all combat related to keep the non-combat crowd happy.

It's not a secret.

I've wondered since since my beginning involment with ED why one has to grind their way to the Corvette or the Cutter offered by the either the two separate major factions when. One doesn't have to choose to be exclusive. One can grind to the vette and then the cutter or visa versa. Their membership is either Navy has no concequents upon their membership in the other. Thus one doesn't have to swear alligence to one or the other, has never made any sence to me. But one has to swear alligence to a smaller faction and after doing so, must on occasion suffer possible consequents. That seems backwards to me.

I'd concur that at some point in the game, one would have to choose between the three major parties be it Federal, Empire or Indenpendents. And there should be consequences for those that don't choose at all and or choose one of the others; Much like the smaller factions do. I mean one can earn their way to a cutter and then decorate it with all Federal decales or visa versa in regards to the vette. Either the major factions are separate or their not, which is it? If they are not separate, why have them involved with any of the lore.

I mean one can state the Federal have issues and cause problems for the Empire in which the Empire feels they must defend or the Empire has issues and cause problems with the Federal in which they feel compelled to deal with. But if they are one of the same, what's the difference?

I'd like to see some sort of consequences for joining either of the three major factions by the others. Just like there is in the smaller factions.

Noobish wondering...

Excuse me... I know it might sound silly, but I've heard rumors about a problem with rebuy when you get Federal Ships with rank drop. A player told me that, as soon as regular ranks are restored, if you get destroyed while below the official rank required, you can't rebuy your ship. I honestly doubt this is true, but I would like to be sure from people who know it better. Thank you very much.

They get the warm feeling of knowing that other people got a good deal. When I bought my computer it cost twice the price of the same machine today. Sometimes good deals come along, sometimes people get better deals than you, sometimes you get better deals than other people. After this week, everyone else will need rank too. Maybe they'll be sore that they missed out. Welcome to life.

Once one has gain RANK regardless if its from the Pilots Federation or one of the three major factions such as Federal, Empire and or Alligence. One doesn't ever loose it. One does loose their Reputation for a variety of reason in various amounts. However, if one has more than 75%, they never drop below it. If they aren't above the 75% mark. There a process where as one can't drop below 25%.

One of the reason's that one can loose Reputation is due to not playing the game. I've not played for several weeks now and my Reputaion has droped to the 75% mark.

As far as not being able to rebuy any lost ship. Tis never been a problem unless one doesn't have sufficent funds. I no longer make any attempt, but I've lost a number of ships of various types due to my feeble attempts at combat. And have never lost Rank in the process, nor the ability to do a rebuy.
