Stamina Bar

A bit of necromancy.

But why not?
We have measurments for everything but not for this. If suit's life support is possible to measure remaining health, so why it cannot measure stamina?
I suggest to add this feature to the game - wide and thin bar at the bottom (a bit) of the HUD. Skyrim-like, for example, shrinking from the sides to the center.

I wholly support this necro - we need Snickers Marathon Mars stamina bars.

Yes, suit should be displaying heart rate as a exhaustion indicator. In very cold or hot environments it should make you tired earlier. Artemis suit should provide you with greater tolerance.
But that would require more work and using common mmo/rpg sense...oh wait its Frontier :ROFLMAO:

ED prizes immersion as core gameplay. Look at the rest of the GUI to understand: thruster capacity is shown when used, ammo is projected on the weapon (not on the corner of the screen), other suit stats that are easily measured or tracked are also shown. UI is minimal and use-oriented. The only caveat that breaks immersion is showing health as percentage, and this deemed necessary to keep clear feedback and keep it consistent with ship gameplay (also because the average shooter uses the "tint screen red to 'show' health", so it's necessary to separate EDO from that feeling).

Learning your sprint limit by feeling and practice is considered by the game a skill ("git gud"). The sound of your breathing is an indication of how close to exhaustion you are. There is also the condensation of sweat on the helmet. There is already an engineer mod to improve sprint limit, should you care so much about it.

Thinking the lack of it is a developer mistake just means you don't understand the design intention. Sure, feel free to complain that the lack of it for immersion doesn't suit you, that's fair and valid. But placing it as "FDev made a poop" is just petty ignorance. Wanting EDO to be what you want doesn't make you right, just shows you're playing the wrong game for you.

There won't be a stamina bar ever, unless someone mods it in. Or you all keep screaming loud enough until FDev gets tired and gamefy the UI putting it just to shut you, going against the game design, and hoping there won't be other requests that try to make EDO more of a twitch reflex shooter.

Being able to sprint the same pathetically short distance (unless one bunny hops, because the game doesn't make the act of jumping reduce sprint stamina) irrespective of most factors that would seem to be relevant (not the least of which is gravity) is not something I'd mistake for immersive.
I'm good with the current setup. They'd have to go full RPG to do something better. CON scores for endurance, SPD for pace, STR for encumbrance (that's a popular topic atm). Then what next? Measure our time strapped to a pilot seat vs running around in a CZ to simulate conditioning? 😁 I like ED as a sim but I'd rather they improve the BGS. 😁

They could increase the base value (something like five or ten fold the current value would be completely plausible), keep/add a recovery rate that matches the current recovery pace, and scale the consumption based on local gravity (though nothing below half consumption).

A more detailed inventory and encumberance system would certainly be nice, but it's well beyond the scope of basic running stamina.

I think this game is wonderful, but it has way bigger and urgent problems to solve than... this. We should ask to solve bigger and older problems instead of adding even more clutter to the table.
