Standard Beta "coming soon" tm

I think this is pretty good news, but I'm interested in how the premium guys feel about it? Was it worth jumping in earlier into a huge buggy multiplayer test? Do you feel at all cheated should they start standard beta in a month or so?
Will the standard beta be exactly what the alpha/premium beta guys get?

I backed to the Premium beta level during the Kickstarter and when all the single player videos came out I still had some Xmas money lying around so decided to blow it on the upgrade to Alpha as I just had to play it myself. Best £100 I have ever spent.

Cheated. No way, I have waited decades, decades! for this.

Additionally premium beta backers also get all the future expansion packs. bargain!

why would we feel cheated its only £15 extra we would of paid anyway and we get to experience the beta process first hand ......don't regret anything at all its the best money I folked out in a while knowing I'm contributing to the game development.
The majority of the PB guys would say they would of bought the expansion packs so its nothing lost to get in early.

For that reason alone they could of give me 2 weeks in Beta before standard beta kicked in and that would'nt bother me at all .......GREAT GAME and its only gunna get better

I upgraded my £85 kickstarter by £15 to get PB. I'm perfectly happy with having done that.

The only reason I'm somewhat nervous about the PB ending 'soon' is that the game seems to lack so many features and is still so unstable, I think that might cause a lot more trouble in SB (as I stated in a thread elsewhere).

We don't know how much further ahead internal builds are though.

Again, as I said elsewhere, I'm starting to get a little nervous that the game may be getting pushed to achieve a deadline rather than a quality bar.

Not for a minute.
Like others have said, I had originally bought standard beta but then upgraded. My guess was that standard beta would be around July time so I was fully expecting this stage to be short.

Anyway, each step is one closer to release, has to be good right?

I upgraded and I did expect it to last longer. Even more so when I got in because Premium Beta seemed more like a very good alpha than an early beta, with tons still to do. It almost seems like they're ending PB because they don't want to sell more expansion passes more than because it's time to go to standard beta.

Definitely not unhappy with it, though. The more the merrier. Standard beta backers have backed th game for plenty, so get them in. It will also mean they can give us more systems while still keeping a high player density.

PB was well worth it already and if anything I wish I'd backed for more originally. Here's hoping it means they're further along than I thought.

I was expecting at least another 2 builds, but thats just me.

However I also hope they are not just pushing along a product quickly to meet a schedule. We only have 5 playable ships and soon to be 6. We are already reaching Standard Beta, and we are meant to have 25 playable ships?!?!

How will that be possible. I am guessing the Adder, Asp, Viper, Lakon Type 6 and Fer De Lance might see the light of day before commercial release. But then that means only 11-12 ships will be revealed before launch. Thats all good and all if you want to be surprised in the game (which I do) But how does that fair up for game testing and balancing out the ships.

Personally, I backed it to see it actually get off the ground and become reality. Having played the game as a kid, to see a 21st Century rendition has been a dream till now.

The pledge I made got me to premium beta, but to me that's just a bonus having access.

The sale of the premium beta will end on July 15. The premium beta will continue to live until mid-August, perhaps. This will make three months of existence. This is more than correct. And the backers of the premium beta also have the standard beta, the gamma, the retail version and the expansions. Life is beautiful !

I really have no issues - this has been a great blast for 18 months and well worth the cash. When Alpha finished they stopped the purchase for several weeks before it actually finished, so to me it means Beta will start sometime in August. I figured two or three releases for PB and that's what we are going to get. The key thing for me is this is positive from the perspective that they must be confident that they are close to having the networking nailed. I dont think they will want to move to Beta without that being relatively stable. However if it is then the sooner they get the Beta's on to increase the stress test the better.

Good times.

Good to hear so many positive people about this project. Can't wait to join you all in Standard Beta when it's released. But Surely the expansion pass will still be available when PB ends. Would be kinda silly to remove it with pb.

Happy for the anyone to get into the game.
Worried that the game may now be rushed and release without planned features. Will be disappointed if that's the case as I thought not having a publisher meant FD didn't need to pull stunts like that.

Yes, it seems logical that all backers have access to the expansion pack in its current form and before the release of the retail version

I started at Standard Beta level and couldn't hold out any longer when PB came out if I had had the cash I would have done Alpha too and wouldn't have regretted a penny.

I have played a lot since then so had my extra £15 worth many times over.

Plus the fun of finding bugs, CTDs, disappearing stations. Random resets.

Plus we are getting the game we have been hoping to get for years.

Bring it on

I think FD have earned our trust no need IMO to think anything of the sort regarding the concerns in this thread

Frontier is too professional and will not fall into this temptation. David was injured by the Konami experience. And he does not want to tarnish the image of his company

Loving every minute of PB...

...especially getting the Alpha 1.1 single-player combat scenarios out of the blue. That was awesome, and totally unexpected.
