Standard Beta = Horizons beta?

Misery and woe! First world problems! What drama! How do you manage to bear it all?

Learn to spell. That should be the thing you focus on right now. It'll help you in later life. ;)

I hate this saying..."first world problems"...it's a vidoegame forum.....go donate or adopt some African children, rather that use this saying as a thinly veiled insult to another forum poster in this community, at the expense of people suffering in third world countries......

Ah the humour gene clearly jumped a generation in your family. Sorry for confusing you. Next time I will add one of these to make it clearer ... like this :D Got it now?

Mercenary edition was just a pre order of the game if I recall right, not access to beta. Alpha and beta players had the mercenary edition automatically.

If you pre ordered but didn't have beta access the no beta access now unless you pay for it.

I got beta. I was in beta since beta 2. Still got merc edition. I've got my freeagle, SOL and Founder's World permit.

So people who pre-ordered the original lifetime expansion get beta access to upgrades but people who bought the original standard beta but no upgrades don't. To be honest this does seem a bit unfair (I wouldn't be a beneficiary of this so I'm not saying this for my own self advancement, should there be any doubt). I agree that standard beta buyers shouldn't just be given access to the expansion betas but if they buy the standard expansion then it would be reasonable to package the standard beta for that expansion in there.
.
Entirely up to FD though, I suspect that they have done some number crunching on the numbers of beta testers they need and this has driven the access requirements.

No if you bought LTP you get access for free to horizon or any other xpack, if you pre ordered (mercenary edition) then no beta access because you didn't pay for beta or alpha access just for free xpacks and mercenary.

IF on the other hand you paid for standard beta you paid for beta but not free access to new xpacks so when you purchase access to new xpack you get free beta access.

If you paid for alpha or premium beta then you get beta and free access to horizon as you paid for all that.

Nope - I got the Elite beta - but I'm not expecting anything free here - and I didn't get it.

Not complaining. Why are so many people moaning?

Do you want your cake; and eat it; and also have it regurgitated, and then reconstituted and re-iced for your next birthday?

(I take full credit for that last sentence, and hereby reserve copyright :) )

That was standard beta and you got the founders worlds and sol permits because of a bug. There was only one mercenary edition and that was the pre order of the game that DIDN'T include any beta access.

Some people are confused and FD are playing on that to pull a fast on us as they offered several tiers of pre release access AND pre order and LTP.

How much did you pay?

Standard beta cost 75$ USD
Premium cost price of standard 75$ usd plus price of stand alone lifetime pass 50$usd.

The pricing at the time was pretty clear that the difference between premium and standard was LTP and so they offered it in a package known as premium or you could buy it in pieces(75$ for standard and later on you could buy LTP for 50$) if 125$ was too much in one go for you.

It's pretty clear to me beta access went with both premium or standard, LTP is just a lifetime pass to access to all xpacks and has nothing to do with beta access or not.

To those that are complaining of being ripped off by fact of being Standard Beta players, anyone who has a valid account status gets to beta test it is depending if it's Expansion linked or not. For example everyone with beta access got to test 1.2/3/4 etc. The fact is Horizons is a paid for expansion and as such only those who have the LTP may have access to it because they are the only ones who eligible to play test it. This has been made clear from the very beginning of it all.

LTP or Premium Beta? One can have the Standard Beta with LTP.

It's simple, look t how much you paid. Premium beta was £100.

If you paid that then you get the whole shebang included at no extra cost, if you didn't, then you gotta pay!

Which is the scam really because LTP has nothing to do with beta access or not. it just a pass so you don't have to pay for future xpacks.

Here's proof if you pre ordered the game (you bought mercenary edition) AND bought the LTP for 50$ you didn't have access to the game before release...guess why?

They should allow everyone that owns the original game beta access to horizons, tempt them to buy the expansion, don't lock them out and make them resent you!

Why? I was a backer, and had the original beta. But I've pre-ordered Horizons to support FD. Why does buying one beta make you eligible for all betas? I don't get it. What exactly do people want from FD?

I've been very critical of them, esp of the Powerplay fiasco, but never expected them to throw money at me. Puzzled by this sense of entitlement.

Lets get some things clear alright, Elite Dangerous is one game not several expanding on one another.

You can't beta test a game then go live and then beta test the same game again. They led us to believe if you bought beta access once you were good to go bar buying the new xpacks themselves if you didn't have LTP.

What do we want?

We want what we bought and told we were buying, we don't want hand outs but by dang we should get what we paid for and we still are waiting on beta stuff they promised and yet here we are an xpack later and we are still waiting plus they now decide beta access bought previously is no longer valid to beta something becuase they play shifty word games and call it a new "season".

Common that's .

Ultimately we are learning FDs word means poopycock and we can't trust them so why the hell should we give them more money?

Can you link to where you got that idea from ? You keep stating that but I don't recall ever seeing any info that states buying ED beta would guarantee you access to expansion betas ?

Dude much of that is archived and much of the old website pages do not exist anymore unless peeps have them screenshotted. Just look at the pricing which no one can deny:

premium beta 125$
standard beta 75$
LTP 50$

The only difference between premium and standard originally was LTP everything else was the same which is why the founders world bug.

Even the new wording in some text they have now shows premium beta was just standard beta with LTP included which is why you could buy it separately for the same price.

Beta was included in both packages, LTP was just to avoid paying for future xpacks, it didn't give access to beta or alpha.

Now they are saying LTP was what granted future admission into betas which is because if you just purchased LTP it didn't grant you beta originally so why do premium get beta access and not standard beta?

Think about it....
