Horizons Standard or Bi-weave shields

Back to ED after a layoff - finally have a laptop with the necessary oomph to run well.

What are the bi-weave shield generators and are they better than the standard ones?

Cheers,
Jon Jaymes

B-Weaves recover faster after being broken but aren't as powerful as standard shields. They're like an added benefit of C-class shields if you're short on power.
I like Bweaves and a stacked hull because I like to stay in the fight and don't like using SCBs.

Bi-weave only come in C, and they're sightly weaker than normal C. They do however have 1.5x regeneration. I have it on all my smaller ships since the difference in MJ is minimal. On larger ships the PvPer's say it's better for faster ships that can get out of firing lock, since they can use that time to rebuild their shields. I've yet to try that myself.

They're weaker than A-rated normal shields of the same class. The upside is that they regenerate faster and take less time to come back up when broken.

At the moment I think the general tendency is to either go with bi-weaves for regen or prismatics for ultimate strength, with regular shields finding themselves in a "master of none" kind of situation. I personally like bi-weaves, for what it's worth.

Rule of thumb for Bi-weaves, they work best on fast and maneuverable ships. Vultures, FDLs, Clippers and AspX, even the Cobra and Eagle can benefit from them, they use less power and you just have to use your speed to get away when they get low to rebuild. Don't work so well when you have multiple ships firing at you, but then regular shields don't help much either in that respect

Always make sure you use Bi-weaves in combination with plenty of armour & hull/module reinforcement packages - otherwise you will die fairly often. They work especially well on hull-tank specialists like Federal Assault ships or Imperial Clippers (get the integrity above 3000 if you can with good cross-damage type resistances).

I wouldn't put them on larger ships though as they should usually be setup to shield tank (using standard or better yet; prismatic shields).
