Star Citizen isn't the only game to have a race module - Elite: Dangerous does too!

Does anyone else do this?

If so, do you have videos? or want a race sometime?

If not, then try it!

I race around Orbis stations!

So far I have 3 race types:

1. Start at the front of the station, race to the end, flip round and back, going through as many holes as I can along the way

2: Flying round the trench at the front of the station and seeing how many rotations I can make at the highest speed I can

3: Trespass racing, get into the station without docking clearance, then to the back of the station and back out before the trespass timer runs out

Heh :D neat. Tho, Star Citizen is hardly the first nor most noticeable game with such.

I really was very dissapointed of SC when they presented the race thing. I backed for a space fight sim and they implement a console style race version? It was a big let down to me.
Glad ED didn't do such.
(Not saying you shouldn't race if you like to)

EDIT: replaced a word to be less offending for some.

I totally agree with you, making a formal race module doesn't make sense. But that's what I like about ED, you can still do it, even do it with friends, have bets (share gold cargo!)..

It doesn't prevent you from doing these things, it's just a fun sandbox where we can make up our own rules and games!

And using David Croft to commentate the racing is just terrible.

Death run on the edge canyons of a coriolis is nuts.

Good fun. Last alive wins.

( seen some vids of folks than simply do amazing moves with their inertias )

I've seen some of thosse Coriolis runs with Flight Assist Off, looks crazy!

I'm going to get some courage and try it :)

Actually I am sort of hoping that 'events' are added in officially by FD.
Such as:
race events
combat tournaments
Hunt events (Hide and seek paper trail)
Choir meetings....erm sorry time to stop :)

This is a thread about racing in ED.
Not about Star Citizen or immaturity, so I have deleted a few off topic comments. Please stay on topic. Thank you.

We do races in EVE Online.

What we do is start in low security space all of us with bad security statuses. Then we all get in Megathrons, a class of armour battleship in the game, and set course for our nearest trade hub, about 16 jumps through high security space, all of us with -5 sec status. The winner is whoever makes it first, or the last man standing. Through high sec with -5 sec status, all the other players can shoot you freely, not to mention the chances of getting nabbed by the high sec police forces are quite high, especially in slow-aligning battleships. So, the idea is, go as far and as fast as you can, and if you get caught, kill as much as possible before you go down in a blaze of glory.

There are a few cool tricks to use - normally, the guy up the front will trigger the police for whoever's following but, if someone in front of you does get caught, you can slip past unnoticed, so depending on the circumstances, it's not always best leading the race. Last time we ran it, I was the guy up the front and ran into a gate camp, a whole corp that had set up to grab us.I knew I wasn't getting past it so I just started shooting stuff. I killed 7 player ships, including four cruisers and a battlecruiser, before the rest of what they had, combined with the faction police, finally took me down. While I was fighting them though, the entire rest of the field of racers were able to slip past them. Most of them were popped along the way, one guy made it to station but instead of docking, started smartbombing everything near him. Got a few pods before CONCORD finally nabbed him. Great times were had all round.

You really seem to have a problem with me expressing things as I see them. But oh well I edited my post to be political correct. Hope that's better fro you too now.

I find it rather interesting that Frontier keeps referring to ED as a game and CIG keeps referring to SC as a sim. I think these two need to swap their descriptors. It might save a lot of people a lot of headache if they did.
