Star Control 2 is one of my all time favourite RPG games. If you wish to replay or first time play this classic Gem of a game you can download it here and play for free.

works great on modern systems.

I didnt know that a new star control game was being developed, but see video below to get an idea. Its still being developed, but one to watch i think.
You can pre-purchase on steam already. But who pre-purchases digital downloads?

I've been getting info on this from a friend who was an early backer, but it did surprise me by popping up on Steam and GoG yesterday :) It's a prequel and an alternate universe version, as Stardock does not have the license for any of the races, and they promised Paul Reiche III that they won't interfere with the main universe. Mostly because they just announced an actual sequel to Ur-Quan Masters.

I didnt know this.. its a huge shame, i'd have liked to have played the races i love from the originals.
however a sequel to Ur-Quan Masters thats awesome news.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Yeah, the Origins stuff from Stardock isn't doin' it for me. I had high hopes for it initially but the (admittedly limited) amount of screens and such I've seen so far are not hyping me. Quite the opposite. The art design is just not my cup of tea. In particular I hate those little planets the size of tennis balls that you drive your toy rover over.

The sequel from Fred and Paul, though... *that* has my attention. :)
