Star Gazers

So how many of us PS4 players are astronomy fans? I don't consider myself an amateur astronomer, perhaps someday, but I'm definitely a "star gazer." I have a variety of planetarium apps, and I love to go out and just stare at the night sky and then research what I'm seeing. I don't have a telescope - I purposefully went with high power binoculars instead (two eyes, twice the light).

One thing that thrills me the most about ED is the realistic galaxy. It's weird, but imagination and reality blur a bit in my mind. I'm purposefully looking for stars in the real night sky that have significance in the ED galaxy, like the home system of the Empire and Alliance, for example. The reverse is also true - I want to visit stars in ED that really stand out to me in my own night sky.

Surely I'm not the only one who feels this way. Note that this is a bit different than generic exploration - most of the stars I can see probably are either in the bubble or have already been explored and labeled by early players. That doesn't matter to me. I want to point to a star at night and turn to my wife and say, "I've been there!" I don't think I'll ever look at the stars the same again once I've spent time in ED....

I'm currently sat on a planet in the pleiades which also happens to be one of my favourite night sky objects :) I use any excuse to fly there :D

Just wanted to chip in here and say that one of my favourite things I used to do when I first got into ED was to use the SkyView app on the iPad (which is one of those apps that lets you point your iPad into the night sky and overlays a labelled star map over what you're looking at) to find the star my ship was currently docked at. As long as it's a real star you can enter the HIP number (which I think is still shown in the ED galaxy map info) in the SkyView search box to find the star in the night sky (for example Mintaka, which is an ED black hole system located in Orion's belt has HIP 25930).

my dad used to work at Jodrell bank observatory cleaning the radio telescope, and i have been interested in astronomy since i was 5-6 yrs old. i actually wanted to go university to study it, but all the algebra really confuses me. so this game is my one shot at exploring all those stars i see every night

everyone has the freedom of there personal point of view, unless you live in the empire, then you believe what ever your told to believe :p

My fascination with space is the sole reason why I am interested in this game!

I am merely a hobbyist, I used to own a telescope but not anymore since it got lost some time ago.. Hopefully after saving a bit, I will once again go back to sleepless nights under the dark skies.

In Japan, we have a very remote village called 星野村 or Hoshino-mura. There is only 1-2 buses per day, and the population is just about 3000 people. It is one of the best places for Stargazing in Japan. If you visit there on a cloudless/moonless night, you can see the entire Milky way, and with an average telescope even the Andromeda galaxy. It is truly amazing!

I wish to visit the Canarian Islands one day (I think it was one particular island from the whole group). It is said that the mountains there are the best places for Star Gazing.

I used to have a little telescope when I was a kid. But sadly, I lost the thing over the years. But I'm still very much interested in astronomy. Therefore I'd like to visit earth closest neighbour, Alpha Centauri. After that, Altair, Aldebaran and Betelgeuse wil follow.
Hello stars, here I come!

i'm not a big fan of fast food, prefer a resturant with fine food and a nice wine selection

I'm hoping to have a posh little restaurant on my Beluga someday. I'll reserve a seat for you. Just don't bring that archeologist River Song, as it never ends well for any space cruise ship she travels on.
