Star Rings...

...are purty.

Thought I'd throw up some pretty pictures from the catchily named HIP 27076 - wandered into this system on the way home from visiting Betelgeuse, and was surprised (and to be honest, slightly horrified) when my D-Scanner trumpeted out the fact that there were a mighty sixty objects that needed a good...err... looking at.

Now, normally the prospect of scanning sixty objects would have me hyperspacing away faster than you could say 'Why aren't you using an Asp for exploring?"...but I checked the system map, and found out that this system had a ringed star...in fact, zooming out, I learned it had four of these badboys.

Sorry, the Cobra's canopy doesn't lend itself to screenshots of the infinite - but you get the general idea. :D

Brilliant find :)

I was wondering if such things were in the game. In gamma I found some Herbig Protostars, 1 million years old undergoing formation and I thought if any star should have some sort of ring system or debris field it would be Protostars. But sadly they didn't in gamma.

That looks like a Herbig or a very young T-Tauri. Did you scan it?

I did indeed - you are bang on with them being baby T-Tauri's.

The system also had a ringed gas giant, a serious butload of planets and a main star that's scoopable - so ideal for all space tourists! ;)

Probably won't be long before McDonalds or Burger King build an outpost there... :(
