Star System control changing?

Is there any system after 2 months that changed sides where the change was attributed to player input by supporting a minority faction?
Or are all changes that happened (if any) attributed to the devs intervening?

In other words is there any proof the background simulation works or are we stuck at the moment after certain civil war/expansion/boom states?

I fear that the system in either broken, or too complicated.

If after 2 months after release it didnt happen, despite the effort of multiple player groups, it means that SOMETHING is wrong. My guess is that devs have overcomplicated it.

I wish they would trim it down to much simpler mechanics (doing missions for faction increases the influence -> top influence faction owns the system, and THEN they should start implementing more complex mechanics (civil wars, lockdowns etc.).

So far my impression is that the background simulation seems to be broken.

I hoped that i missed something because almost nobody mentions anything about it anymore...
Do people wanna forget the main selling point of the game was this open complex persistent universe because all i read is suggestions about balancing stuff like interdictions/weapon/strader vs pirate etc...?
Does all the rest actually matters if the background sim doesn't work?
This should be the motor/brain that keeps everything together and gives meaning so i'm surprised there is so little talk about it because this is one of the most interesting aspects of the game for me.

One end of my regular trade run flipped from Federation to independent, i presume because the closest station to the primary star is the independent faction, and they have good prices. Went from under 20% to over 80% ... even the station announcers voice changed (although it seems a little bugged as the fed woman is back from time to time, maybe they're having a fight over the microphone - I'll get worried if i hear that there's no stopping in the red zone).
