Star Wars Battlefront 2

It bothers me that you see people, and this includes Angry Joe, saying things like "This is terrible. You'd better not do that in Battlefront 3...."

The mind boggles. They screw over the game for the first one. They attempt to screw over the buyer in the second one. How many chances do you give these people.

Nothing but a wide spread boycott of their products, which will directly impact their share price and therefore their shareholders, will change their minds. And even then it would likely only be temporary. As soon as their share price recovers they'll be back to their old practices again. It's a sad thing to say but I think it really is time for legislation to be put in to stop these abuses.

2 chances is plenty. But it's SW and people will still buy the next and then the one after that.

I agree. I havent purchased an EA product in years and as far as im concerned they are publisher non grata. The fact that they eat up talented developers and spit out the bones after 2 maybe 3 ham fisted titles should be a warning sign to everyone. Imagine a world where only EA and Activision published and made games.

For EA to go bust the majority of the gaming public need to simply stop giving EA money. it can be done, this Starwars story proves that. EA lost 3 billion apparently on share price because of it.

So EA lack the imagination to provide cosmetic items for generic characters and are locked in on iconic costumes because of cannon, So this means its very hard to make money from microtransactions on a starwars game that was guarenteed to be a success. So in order to farm that microtransaction cheddar they needed another idea to gouge players... and went with pay2win.

How about..... NO microtransactions EA! and release an honest and respectful title which everyone would love and it still be a major success because its starwars and its battlefront.

I played the hell out of battlefield 3.... GOD i loved that game. I was happy to buy the new map packs and DLC's. That would have worked fine on battelfront 2.
But if EA honestly wanted Cosmetic cheddar then they could of created some characters for the multiplayer just for the game and make multiple costumes for them or give players the ability to create a custom character and dress them up.

Well, as Jim says "why have some of money, when you can have ALL of the money"?

Remember when EA said they couldn't do cosmetic stuff for BF2 for "canon" reasons?

Oh dear, another lie exposed:

Some enterprising gamers have found all sorts of customisation options locked away in the games files that cannot be accessed through normal play. I wonder which DLC pack these are going to be shoved out in.

The original videos that Jim highlights in his are below:

Personally I can't wait for tomorrow. What will they come up with next?

Sure makes your appreciate FDEV, doesn't it? - I think elite is very reasonably priced.

That having been said. Unless you buy Horizons you can't approach planets. Which means you can't use Engineers. Which puts you at a massive disadvantage, compared to people who can.

So. Arguably, this is "pay-to-win". The difference being it's actually extra content, and reasonably (very) priced. So nobody minds.

For those who want to know roots of all this mess

Good research by Youtube channel Skill Up.

Just to say I've got 136 hours on this game since Nov 17, not paid out a penny more since and having great fun.
The lootbox debacle was mishandled by EA, but I don't really see it as such a big issue, and not a good enough reason to boycott the game IMHO - which, if you are an avid Star Wars fan like myself, is an absolute blast. It is much better than it's predecessor, and EA/DICE/Criterion have been adding content to the game, with plenty more to come.

Anyone on the fence about this game should check out the Origin store - 66% off, that's £21.99 standard version or £27.99 for the deluxe version - value for money in my opinion.
