Dear Frontier Developments, wouldn't be nice to make a base that would look exactly like the death star? It would also be awesome if we could have space ships from star wars like the x wingers, huh? That would be a nice star wars DLC

This is E: D, not Star Wars. Everything in it's place.
If you want to play with Star Wars stuff, there are very many games already where you can.
Please, devs, do not ruin this game by irrelevant, out of place ships, or anything else!

If Frontier were going to give us ships from a different fiction, and I stress that they should NOT, I would pick Eve Online Ships for 'cool' factor or Red Dwarf's 'Starbug' for fun factor. Not Star Wars.

And Disney would bankrupt Frontier if Frontier did it. So it'll never happen.

Let's get away from the whole "let's have stuff from other franchises" and just let Elite Dangerous be Elite Dangerous.

Star Wars designs are awesome, but Elite is it's own gaming universe.
Elite is not Star Wars.

And the copyright problems... FD wouldn't want to deal with that.


Ever since I played the wonderful X-Wing and Tie-fighter games I expected Lucas Arts to release an open universe space sim like the X-Games or Elite.
It never happened. Instead we got loads of inferior Star Wars garbage, especially in the past decade.
The franchise went down hill rapidly. I hope it will get better, but seeing that EA has it's claws on it now I seriously doubt it.
The new Battelefront is a telling omen. It looks good and is all shiny, but as a game it is a disappointment.

They could do a mutually beneficial licence deal. Replace the Condors and Eagles in CQC with TIE fighters and X-Wings, make buckets and buckets of cash with CQC as a standalone game, and get that notification out of my cockpit.

It's a win-win-win

I literally said I am stressing that Frontier should never, ever do such a thing.

A thought experiment for fun never hurt anyone. Let people discuss what they want. It's never going to happen and no should it. Elite as a fantastic style and feel all of its own that I would never want anything else to intrude upon.
