Well, if we're doing Star Wars covers on unexpected instruments while cosplaying with ears, there's always this little gem:

It's my good friend Chris who makes them. It took him many years to learn to hammer steel, and he was taught by Ellie Mannette himself (the father of the steel drum). When people order a pan from them, they aim to make the wait just 9 months (which is relatively short in the pan world). I think with intense focus and long hours, a pan could maybe be done in a few weeks, but it's a complicated process which depends on many outside factors as well, so it's really hard to say. Then it also depends on the number of notes and the note design. This pan I play has 12 notes, 8 on the top and 4 on the bottom, which is a quite elaborate design. Normally a pan would only have notes on the top and fit 7-9...
