Just come back from seeing the new Star Wars. I loved it. One of the best bits was before the film started, there was an advert for Elite! I turned to my son and said 'look, it's Daddies space game'. My son gave me a knowing grin and then high fived me. I love this game.

LOL me too - kids were impressed, didn't like to point out to them that you would have thought it would have been the Horizon's trailer.... :)

I refused to waste my cash going to see another JJ "homage"......... I got slammed for stating he would pull the old "its a homage" trick he pulled with Star Trek.........Yet here he goes pulling the same old trick :) lame cherry-picking plot devices and storylines and as about original as last weeks stale bread. No wonder they binned him for the third star trek reboot movie.....

Meh I thought it was slightly better than the prequel movies but no where near as good as the original trilogy. Also it was A New Hope 2.0. Then it felt like they went out of their way to show off characters and stuff from the first movies. It didn't feel organic, like it was almost breaking the 4th wall with fan service. That does not age well.

That said it was good, just not great. Also why did they kill of you know who. It just felt a bit out of place for the character and the movie series.

Thought it was dreadful, just bits from all the previous films cobbled together - a desert planet, a droid with a secret, a scene on a bridge over a yawning chasm, another asmatic bad guy, another death star, dreadful dialogue, etc. At least I wasn't bored to tears after 30mins like I was with Avatar.

NO, HE, like myself does not like the way that Mr JJ has cherry-picked things from the trilogy and rehashed old plot devices (JUST LIKE HE DID WITH STAR TREK) Its lazy and stinks of cash-grab and does little for the prospect of original film ideas.

Some people got upset that Star Trek wasn't "Trek enough" and are now upset that Star Wars is "too similar." These sorts of people clearly don't know what they want. Original films are put out all the time and audiences don't see them, so what do you expect studios to do?

People like to hate against popular films because it shows they "don't drink the kool-aid" or whatever non-conformity nonsense usually comes out of their mouth. "Muh artistik integreeteee!"

It's cool to see a game like this get some eyeballs on it.

I thought that too. But I really like that first trailer with the 'Royal Blood' soundtrack. For me it just works, I even went out and bought the RB CD on the back of that trailer.

It was in the UK, in a Vue cinema. They did something rather nice at the end for the fans, we was well impressed.

Haven't seen the movie yet but it is on my To Do list. Meanwhile...

A 5 year old son...Some point in time when he can comprehend it all in his early teenage years you are going to give him the controls to a ship in ED and when he succeeds there will be this big smile on his face and a warmth in your heart that is priceless!

Of course you do that you are messing him up for every other game he will play as once you join Elite everything else is lacking! But the sooner he gets to Elite the less you will have to spend for X-Box etc.

Enjoy these priceless moments. They go by much too fast.
