Star with "jet cones" near Diaguandri?

As you can tell, I play the game for ships, not astronomy. Don't even know the proper name of these stars!

I need to get in some practice, because I've never used them before. Planning on getting a Sidewinder shortly for learning.

White Dwarfs or Neutron stars.
Off the top of my head LFT 133 should be a few jumps from there

EDIT: LHS 1442 is a little closer, ~7.2Ly

Use the Starclass filter in the galaxymap and set it to show white dwarfs. Or non-sequence stars, which also contains neutron stars alltough I don't think theres one of those nearby (but I could be wrong).

Do yourself a favour and use a medium size ship at least, the smaller ones get thrown about a lot more. Also, there is almost no danger as long as you use Neutron Stars exclusively, they have a much better jump boost and are 100 times less dangerous because the jet-cone extends much further out beyond the SC drop point. Not a lot of point practicing something considerably harder when it is impractical for travel anyway.

The procedure is simple:

1) Make sure you have a fuel scoop equipped.
2) Jump into system and zero throttle.
3) Look to see which jet-cone is on your side of the star and travel towards the end of it slowly at 90o.
4) When you get close enough that it occupies a fair portion of your screen pull away from the star so that you enter the jetcone at a shallow angle and low speed.
5) Zero your throttle when inside, charging will only take a few seconds.
6) If you leave the jet-cone before you are fully charged simply start again at 3.

edit ps, the closest Neutron star I'm aware of is at Lalande 25224, about 300ly above Diaguandri

A word of warning about white dwarfs: some of them have jet cones that end inside the exclusion zone, so if you try to get into the cone you're going to have a bad time. I found that out the hard way the other day - always be aware of that thin line when approaching a WD!

I would also add: only enter the jet cones moving away from the star. If you can see the star, you're doing it wrong.

Echo Achibot and Faybs' words above. I don't bother with white dwarfs as the small jump boost doesn't offset the extra faff time or the greater risk of clipping the exclusion zone.

Make sure you've got 'show orbital lines' on as well so you can see the EZ.

Jackson's Lighthouse is probably the closest neutron star to go play with as it's about 30ly from Felly Farseer's place.

Well, that's another thing ticked off the list. Can do.
