I'm not much of a warrior and would be no good in a fire fight. I've got a half dozen ships sprinkled around the bubble. All are in orbiting space stations. Can I lose these ships if the stations they are on are destroyed? Should I be moving my ships out of the projected paths of the stargoids?

Stations cannot be destroyed. Or not so far. If that changes, then...who knows?
When I have been caught in a station attacked by Thargoids my ship was moved to a rescue Megaship about 10 Mm away.
Something different happened in Hip 22460 but who knows what will happen when the Stargoids arrive.

Just switch to Horizons 3.8 - no stargoids here!
I would wager when the Titans seed themselves on new planets and open their portals to allow Thargoids ground troops through to give Oddy content and narrative a major boost yourll get new Engineers appearing in time with new Modifications or weapons.
