Landed a type-6 on one of those hostile but non-laser protected starports - you know the ones where you land on the pad outside - got blasted to death by some 'fed' - lost all of my cargo - does anyone know how long it takes to clean up 100 tonnes of (bio waste) from a landing pad?

Not sure what you mean. So you can try to reclaim it? or because you're worried about the environment?
I was in a similar problem for a while when I needed to go to one of those sort of open air (can't believe I just said that) ports. I found that if as soon as I landed, I went inside, I was OK.
I also found that I cleared my wanted status pretty quickly by taking up those offers to free slaves. But of course, you do need to be really careful between buying and delivering them. Feds seem to take the view that if they find you with slaves, its another reasons to use your ship for target practice.
Incidentally, ever tried flying a Type 7? Inspite of the huge cargo space, I got rid of it and went back to a Type 6.
