Starport Services screen is overwhelming

Even after watching the tutorial video by FD, I still find the Starport Services screen daunting.

I have a hard time understanding the nuances of finding a mission that suits me. I have a hard time with the buy/sell screen.

Besides the FD tutorial, are there materials (video or otherwise) that will help me learn the SS screen and all of its intricacies? Specifically, selecting missions that suit me and that I can do. Also understanding how to buy-sell etc.

There are several good youtubers explaining many aspects of the game.
You might try looking up 'Kornelius Briedis' or 'Commander ChaosWulff', they have some very informative videos, but I'm certain there are a lot more but I don't remember all their names or if they did something like you're asking for.

Slow down and take your time, there's no rush. You'll be happier if you work it out for yourself.

Try it all out, the worst thing that can happen with a mission is that you decide you want to cancel it and cancel it.

Basic combat missions : start with low level assassination/hunt missions against pirates, hunting non-prates will get you a bounty the lower the mission pay the easier it will be (assassination targets can be tough).

Basic trade : boils down to buy low sell high, see whats got a high supply (and is therefore low in price) check out galaxy average price for a good (but not infallible) indication of likely profit and trade routes in the galaxy map for a good (but not infallible) guide to what sells where. Fit a fuel scoop so you don't incur costs whilst you find a system where you can sell.
