Starports damaged my Beluga, can I sue ?

Hi Cmdrs
I'm currently running tourism trips from New Dawn to Sirius Atmospherics and I keep getting pranged during my movement from the hanger to the surface.
I'm running a Beluga with no shields so I can hold as many cabins as poss, when I cash in and hit the launch button , the starport drops the ship , turns it around , and raises it ready for launch. But as the clamps are released , I get a "hull damage " message 8 times out of 10. When I return I have to repair at a cost ranging from a few hundred to 2000 credits. Anyone else had this ? Should I raise it as a bug?

Hardly a bug since it happens all the time with all shieldless builds. Landing and taking off without shields is almost granted hull damage, shields are for avoiding this little station prod. The bigger ship the more probable it to occur. Tho, smaller ones as as easily prone to be damaged, happened to me in DBX or Viper. To avoid unnecessary stress I install the smallest available D-rated shields and fly safe.

Good habit is to treat your ship not as a solid object, but more like fragile egg. And because of that, drop some cabins in favor of shields and stop worrying about dents.

Most of my are builds are Shieldless, ranging from my racing ieagle up to my Cutter. Never have any damage to ships, the issue is likely because the OP isn't holding vertical thrust when the ship is released. It takes RC a second to catch up, so you need to quickly clear the pad.

Ok, well, i guess ill have to put up with it as I'm not losing a big slot for a shield. Also , it's not me lifting off badly as the "hull compromised " message comes up before I've touched anything.
Also, does this mean that the game is "designed " to damage your ship?

Sounds like a bug as its possible to go fer some time without gaining so much as a scratch to even large unsheilded ships on high G planets. Those who claim its not possible either cant fly too good or havent tried hard enough...more or less both. A sheild is like extra suspension...it allows one to make mistakes and get away with it, nothing more. Dont make mistakes, and ye dont need a sheild.

In saying that, some ships are harder to avoid pranging than others...the beluga is one such example so...its a bit of a grey area this one maybe ^

You're running a Beluga shieldless?

You are absolutely insane. Bravo, sir, bravo.

I mean, I can thrust my ISS Peter Johnson in and out of a slot all day without touching the sides but I would never dream of doing it without protec....errr... that... that came out wrong.

Ummm... *wanders off slowly*

Not a critism, just a thought. This is a great example of weighting assumed risk against productivity. You are shieldless to maximize profit, any damage that would have been mitigated by the shield is your assumed risk for the reward.

I personally would never run one of those mailbox stuffers without one, but I get why you do it and nothing wrong with that so long as you understand the assumtion of risk.

Fly safe. o7
