Starship One

A bit of off-topic first. While the 1.3 update made things a bit tricky for me (and many others it seems) since I was in deep space, I was pretty sure I'd be back in after 2 or 3 updates. It's 1.3.3, and hey, as I auto-predicted, everything's fine for me so far! FD never disappoints :D

So while I'm heading back to occupied space, I'm trying to catch up with interstellar gossip, and getting familiar with the new elements. Powerplay looks quite exciting to me, can't wait to see what that good Edmund, or maybe Li yong-Rui could do with a little more help.

Also, the new galnet newsfeed interface and the neat quick link like feature at the end of most news are really cool. I actually enjoy those reading a lot more, now, as their bonds to actual events in the galaxy is becoming more fleshy. Can't wait to see where this will expand!

On topic, now: those news, among many things, talk about Starship One disappearance. I searched on the forums for some reaction over that but found very little. Has anyone attempted to look in to this? Or Have I missed something?

The Starship One stories ran just before the 1.3 update. There was a search mission community event and the starship appears to have been the victim of a rare FSD incident. Now, whether that was accidental or deliberate, we don't currently know.

Well Starhsip One hat troubles with its engines and the President and Vice President disappeared with it. About 48 hours after it happened it was announced and the federation started a search for clues about the disappearance. We searched for hours until all aboard were declared dead and former shadow president Hudson was voted for the new president and Winters went into opposition as the new shadow president.
Even if there was no hint about any technical issues aboard and there is no evidence to proof, no one casts doubt in a spontaneous simultaneous multiple device failure, because something similar already happened a few hundred years ago...

Thanks for the answer, guys. I read that in Galnet but somehow understood that it was not over yet. Must say I was not much into CEs, hence the surprise.

That's the bit that sounds fishy to me. That's like a modern plane crashing and someone brushing it by saying "Oh, we've put it down to an engine failure because something like this happened 90 years ago" and then conveniently forgetting the fact that aeroplanes 90 years ago were nothing like we have now.

I would imagine that FSD technology has moved on from what they had a few hundred years ago.

But, like you say, it seems to have gone quiet.

I just had a thought... I KNOW ... what happened... to Starship One.

You know when the game servers are unstable at times? When you do a hyperjump to another system? During which you get stuck in an infinite hyperjump and end up with a server communication error?

THAT'S ... what happened. Halsey just got into a bad hyperjump connection and kicked out of existence.

I'll take my prize money and applause now.

When she logs in again, she may be 5 system jumps back on her route...

For my part - I don't believe in the official story. I don't know what to believe, maybe the One is in witchspace and the president is held prisoner by thargoids or attends a highly secret conference. No wreckage was found, so it still is possible, even if I fear that she's gone forever.

Edit: the result of the CG was, that the search continues. So I hope for a longer lasting CG, that has a chance to finish and reveals some answers.

I'm putting my money on Thargoids as well and I wouldn't be surprised if Starship One with its crew turn up again in the future.
