Start menu feels similar to Alien Isolation?

Ever since Gamma 2.0 came out, I can't help but feel the similarities in the start menu between the two games (sometimes I wonder if I loaded up the wrong game :). Although ED has the station more up-front and detailed, conceptually both games have the same idea. Planet on the left, station on the right. I wonder if AI had any influence on FD's decision for their latest start menu.

Rather simple discussion, but personally I think it would be more creative if FD chose a different scene. Something that isn't so similar and perhaps show-off the other more aesthetically pleasing stations. I know they're hardcore old-timers sticking with their classic cuboctahedron station, but damn that thing is just a floating brick in space :)

I wish there was more "Alien" in Elite. The movies were a huge part of sci-fi when I was a kid. And I actually love the similarity but prefer the Alien music :D

The image is the only thing remotely similar. The Alien Isolation image is copying a whole host of space scenes itself, so really there isn't much new in either of the pics.

Well, the Alien music is the stuff of dreams my friend. It would be no easy feat to try to match it.

Isolation is one hell of a game.

I would love Frontier makes a buck and can buy some rights for Alien franchise, once you can walk around your ship and stations, that would blend into Elite universe so, so...

heh yeah it does look similar

the elite dangerous title screen is horribly encoded/low res.
the alien one at least is trying to be like that inkeeping with the movies tech level.

I've been thinking about that a lot too. Doesn't have to be xeno aliens, but when they add the first person expansion they could add any savage crazed killer alien on the loose as a side mission. Like when I see that start screen, I feel like the station has lost power and myself and a group of mates have to dock and board it to find survivors. Walking around on the station with most of the lights cut off, noises of metal stress and bursting pipes from damaged areas. There I am, taking point when I decide to turn around and see one of my mates missing. His voice comm is silent because the alien got to him first. "Oh my god, we're being hunted!"... Then a couple seconds later he returns "Sorry guys, washroom break. So what happened?" as he hears us all panicking on the comms and making a B-line back to our ships, haha...

That's nothing - the gameplay feels like a game from 30 years ago!
