Start Option

Hi Ed, just like to ask a question if I may. I currently have 3 ships,2 in one location and a third in another. As I increase my fleet I would like to be able to but ships and leave them in their home port. So my question is; would be possible to be able to start in a port of choice provided their is a ship there belonging to you. I thinkthis would make life a little easier when wanting to swap ships which are in your fleet.

Fingers crossed

To do so would allow instant travel and would trivialise the grand scale of the galaxy - a player could have ships spread over the galaxy and simply log out and log back in again to teleport from one to another.

I think it's already been discussed that this won't happen for a variety of reasons. At most, you'd have the ability to hire NPCs to bring your ships to you. A work around is to buy a cheap sidewinder, strip it of everything and use it as a transport between dock locations.

Doing this would pretty much allow you to teleport across the galaxy, which would kinda invalidate the scale a bit.
If anything, paying x credits and wait x time for our ship to be moved for us wouldn't be a bad thing.

This again... (Not having a go but this question crops up every few days like an itch that can't be scratched).
I vaguely remember an original 50+ page thread where the general feeling was mixed.
One issue is I could literally buy sidewinders at key systems and hop around the human galaxy as fast as I like doing a ton of different things like community goals etc that I shouldn't be able to do.

The whole game balances reality vs gameplay. In this case the cointoss landed heads for reality.
Its a valid suggestion, I just seem to remember it having been discussed to death at somepoint, I just can't seem to find the thread anymore... Will edit this post if I find it.

Edit: Ninja'd a lot

I agree with the current system as it is, but I would like to see the facility to have more than one commander on your account, like in many MMORPGS.

I'd like to be able to start again with 1000CR and a Sidey, but I don't want to lose what I've managed to earn so far since release, as the amount of time I can spare to play the game is limited. I've been playing since day one, but still only have about 53,000,000CR in the bank and a Vulture, ASP and Type 7 to my name. I'd still like to keep going until I've got a fully kitted out Anaconda, but that's going to take a long time, but I'd also like to start again now that I know more about how to play.

i stronlgy agree....no teleport....but having the option to move your ships in another called ''home system'' would be great.

Let's say i want to move my ships from sol to azeban:
I'd have to pay X Credits per ship, and wait X time (should be hours or days depending on how many LY ships would travel, based on the shorter Jump capability ship you have in your fleet)...maybe allowing ships transfer just one time at week...or more, why not?

It would give us player the ''fleet delivery time'' , not just push a button that teleports ships....it should cost credits, and maybe some hull damage during the trip :)

Please No, not again.
EDIT: nobody force you to fly those ships....you can buy a little sidewinder, fully kitted and spread the galaxy with it until you'll die :)
In this way you can experiment everything you want.

Sorry, I haven't seen any other posts on this subject.

The trouble with buying a Sidewinder and going off to a fresh part of the galaxy and start again, is that there is always the temptation to 'cheat' by dipping into the millions I've already earned, plus I'd still have to fly however far back to continue my alternate timeline. I can't see any problems with it.

A charge for npcs to bring ships to you would be fine IMO.

Instatravel around the galaxy to your ships would be a terrible idea though.

What if they are crap pilots and get your ship destroyed. OR.... What is they are baddies and just steal your 300 million Anaconda??? Now that would be a "DANGEROUS" deal!

You can have as many commanders as you wish for only £35.99 (on sale) each!

How about a charge of 1m credits per Ly for an NPC to bring you there???? :)
Sure, when they start paying us the same for doing their deliveries. It doesn't make sense to have such high fees with low earning potentials. If things are that expensive, our tasks should pay accordingly. I say you'd have to be allied with the both systems thus you could have the stations transfer your ship as a courtesy for your services to protecting and helping their cause. So in essence it wouldn't even be a transfer, you'd just have the option to select your stored ships at any allied station that has ships.

I wish I could do that in real life then I'd leave my car at home and my truck in Hawaii... but since I'm being realistic I'd leave my car at home and my truck at work so I can wake up about 15 minutes before I have to be at my desk.4

It pays to live 2.4 miles from your job. Trust me, its great biking to work in the spring and summer. Best part is its down hill both ways!

I live 5 miles from work and I'm about to lose that in a few months... not looking forward to it trust me.

I'd settle for every shipyard stocking the hauler with availability of 'A' FSD and 'D' other modules! Holding off on the 10% depreciation on parts helps too!

Aye. Well as long as your ship is insured then?

Can you imagine the poor player pirate who attacks a 300-500mil equipped Anaconda flown by an npc? :)
