Powerplay Started powerplay. Need confirmation if i understand it..

yesterday i started powerplaying. (bout time after 500+ hours game time. lol)

But im not sure i understand it, watched the tutorials a couple of times, and did read a lot on this forums, and other websites.

So, i pleged yesterday to Hudson, openend the powerplay... uuhm.. thingy, and looked for things what i can do to help out.

Is it true, that the only thing we can do now, at this monent, is to haul information form Nanoman, to preparation systems? I was looking for a good fight, but the only thing i could do now to earn merits, is to do some hauling. (with only 8 tons of cargo, i wont make a difference i think.)

I also cruised around a bit in supercruise to find me some enemy NPC's to score me some merits, i did found them, but, no merits. Now i think i did it wrong, they were flying in Hudson space, and i assume i need to go to enemy space, kill enemies there, to earn me merits. or?

So is there anybody here pledged to Hudson? And what are you doing atm to earn merits?

Most of the active coordination for the various powers tends to take place on Reddit, not on these forums. Since you've pledged to Hudson, you'll want to head to their reddit at https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteHudson and perhaps also check out their teamspeak channel - They're definitely combat oriented, and you should be able to find people to wing up with or get more detailed advice from. My own perspective is that of a different power (Edmund Mahon), so I don't want to start speaking for the Hudsonites.

You can earn 30 merits per kill via undermining. You'll need an FSD Interdictor to grab NPCs out of super cruise. The Hudson Reddit can point you to the systems they want people to work on. Note that once a system is 100% undermined any additional effort is basically wasted, so it's best to move on. When you're in an enemy control system for undermining, ANY non Hudson or Winters NPC will earn you merits and contribute to undermining, so if somebody grabs you and you can handle the fight it's best to just submit and have at it.

You can also earn 10 merits per kill in the special zones that spawn in Hudson expansion systems, though I don't think they have any this week. Not every system that goes into expansion is actually desirable so it's best to check the Reddit for that as well to ensure it's actually a desirable system.

Don't forget to return to a Hudson control system to turn in your merits; if you die with merit claims they'll disappear just like bounty claims do.

Thats easy and clear language. Thanks, you helped a lot.

This week there are 3 ways to earn merits as a Hudson player, out of 4 different activities -

1) Go to Nanomam and select the Contacts menu item in the starport, select 'Power Contact', and you'll see various bits of info along with the opportunity to load fortification supplies. As a new pledge I think you get 15 fort supplies every half hour (you can 'buy' them to speed things up, but it's expensive at 1m Cr per 100 tons of supply, so not really an option for new PPers). Load up the fort supplies, carryt hem to any of the Hudson controlled systems, and you'll collect 1 merit for each ton of fort supply delivered. Now....

- to be an EFFECTIVE Hudson PPer you should pick somewhere to deliver to that helps us with our weekly strategy, so look on the Reddit post (top post on reddit, if you can't find it let me know) and you'll see that every Thursday our leadership put up a list of places to deliver to, and over the week this updates to tell us all when the different systems have been fortified 100%, at which point deliveries should go to a system that is not 100% yet. MOST important of all there's a list there that tells you systems NOT to deliver to, as although we own them they are too expensive to run and we'd like to get rid of them!

2- Take part in 'Security operations' - NOT available this week. Systems we intend to take over we try to 'expand' into. To successfully do this we go into the target systems, find the 'security ops' in system (you see them listed on your left hand nav screen where it lists all the planets etc in the system - in expansion systems there'll be sec ops sites listed that you cruise to. Once in a sec op area it's like a CZ, you get 10 merits for each enemy ship you'#ve hit that ends up dead. This can be a very fast way to earn merits, by the way.

3 - Prepare systems - on the reddit post (as for fortification) the prep systems are listed. Go to them, collect Hudson intel from the Power contact (contacts list) and you take these to ANY Hudson controlled system, deliver to the power contact there to collect 1 merit per ton. You get the same deal as fort supplies here, as a new PPer that's 10 or 15 (can't remember) tons of intel per half hour - it works just like fort but instead of delivering to a target system you are helping to defend you are bringing back from a target system that we are looking to expand into.

4 - Undermining - this is combat, and has been mentioned above, your target is freighters tagged as 'Imperial Supply' officially, but has been stated above you get merits for taking out enemy NPCs there also, so you can perhaps chase down a freighter, get interdicted by a 'defending' NPC, kill him instead and still get the points. 30 merits per kill.

Again the reddit has the weekly strategy posted there every Thursday when PP cycles turn over, you can find Fortification, Preparation, Expansion and Undermining targets all in that post - which is copied to the Hudson sub forum here. It is important to read this, as a large number of people don't read it, grind the closest and easiest systems for the merits (and often harm our strategy, so we have to overcome not only enemy forces but a lot of idiots supposedly on our own side as well). To be the number one power gains us extras, such as bigger payouts when we kill enemy NPCs, so grinding the RIGHT targets is thw way to go.

None of the above tend to earn much while doing them, so fighting in CZs , CGs, and trading are used to keep the coffers filled while PPing as much as we can in the meantime. It is fairly easy to reach level 4 for 5MCr a week, level 5 is doable but will curtail your other activities considerably. Good luck,
Dave

Glad it helped. A couple things I forgot: only power play ships count for merits--if the local authorities interdict you it's best to evade or submit and boost away. Also, you're gonna get super wanted in the systems you undermine, so it's good to find a system a jump away that's independent. I'm hostile with the Empire now so it does get a bit more
complicated to find a place to land for repairs.
