Newcomer / Intro Starting Over

I have a straightforward question: Should I decide to rename my CMDR and start over, would I lose ALL the paint, items and pre-built ships that I spent ARX on? Or are those purchases: account wide and can be reclaimed?

dont do it you carry on and sort youre game out.
I was considering restarting and clearing my saved progress to kickstart a YouTube blog on how to return from zero to billionaire in Elite; BUT I do not want to lose what I actually spent RL$ on. [Edited] And to discuss different ships pros and cons, and some pros and cons to different blueprints, which anyone can Google Fu on; but the basis is to take a concept and mature into a functional ship.

I would clear 9.2+ billion credits, an entire fleet of fully engineered ships, and near maximum engineer materials stash (manufacturing, raw, and encoded); I have helped dozen+ new players that were introduced through mutual gaming friends start out in Elite which still play today.

bit of a silly idea if you ask me you seem to be doing ok why ruin it.think about the things you would have to do to get back to where you are,up to you but i wouldt do it,hope you have a re-think.

As Helmut has said, just buy a new account and start a new CMDR. For that, just rename the launcher from EDLaunch.exe to something else (e.g. EDLaunch_2.exe), start that instead and log in with your newly bought second account.

Then I would have to spend 2x RL$ to be same-o, same-o then. I will wait until the Mandalay is released then decide.

Yeah, I have accomplished many things while playing Elite that I have far exceeded my online CMDR friends. I hope the Powerplay 2.0 offers enough to stay active doing different mission activities and gameplay options to be worthwhile. I already own the faction ship modules that I wanted; so, this cannot be the main hook to players to hold them loyal to any faction or to continue increasing in faction rank.

Theres a free account (horizons) coming soon if you have amazon prime it will be on Epic, just wait for that? probably be on a black friday sale somewhere soon...perhaps...too.
Starting again is great fun, love the sidey and building up.

I started over on PC / Steam as they abandoned XBox and I wanted to play the new and upcoming content. Last time I played was about 3 years ago. It isn't so bad. Ground missions are kicking my butt a little bit, but overall not bad. Last time I pledged to the Federation, this time around it's Alliance. o7 CMDR's.

I took the dive and started over. I have produced my first video and will be uploading it soon. I will share it here. In my first session, I went from Sidewinder to the Mandalay (purchased instead of using the pre-built option) with a simple series of jumps and one planet's worth of xeno data.

starting over again isnt to bad ive had to do it,you know where to go and what to do and whats first to do .what can wait etc, just the sometimes feeling here i go again lol.good luck cmdr.

I recently got Odyssey for my 3rd account, it had no on foot before (but was Elite in two other disciplines). Interesting starting off with rubbish suits and weapons again! And no engineering materials. Hopefully slightly easier to get this time round.

I have met a few other commanders who were migrating from one platform to PC that always want to jump back in with the least amount of time without shorting themselves on unlocking engineers or reputation.
