State of the Game

Hi guys,

It's been a LONG time since I've written anything on this forum (though I did check it every few weeks) mainly due to the fact that I haven't played JWE in quite a while. Recently I got into it again and continued my old sandbox on Nublar. It may be a lack of creativity on my part but I feel like the game has become quite boring and I'm surprised so many things are still not added. It's great though that Frontier did some fan service by adding day/night cycles and more customization options for the sandbox mode etc. so thanks for that!

However:
- There's still a giant lack of customization with only 3 road types that all look kinda meh, nothing else other than generic forest, grassland and water
- All fights are pretty much the same with little to no variation. If it's so difficult to do this right maybe they should focus on adding more realistic fights with just the fan favorite dinos like T. Rex, Spino etc.
- The game still has little to offer in terms of management. I get that it's not this type of game, but I feel like if there was more management it wouldn't be so boring...

I don't think I will be playing it much more at this stage and I also think that before it got released I overestimated how much I would play it once released (although 70 hours is not that bad).

Do you think any of this will ever get addressed or is it a fool's hope?

The game still needs a lot of work to enjoy it on sandbox for long periods of time. But it's right there at the edge of absolute Greatness!

They only need to add a few more things that you have suggested here. More terrain tools, more buildings, more paths, decorations... Then give us several more dino animations, like you said simply focusing on the big name ones would really help things. Come up with 4 or 5 Rex vs Spino fight endings... Then 2 or 3 fight endings between all of the other big carnivores. A few between big herbivores and carns like Rex vs Trike, anky vs Indom, .....give dilos a venom paralysis kill, get raptors climbing out of fences... Give all the sauropods some fighting and killing animations... Finally get an epic Rex vs Apatasaurus fight. They could add a decreased fear gene you could give to big carnivores which would allow them to attempt to hunt sauropods like the indominus rex does...

But basically some terrain tools and decorations, some animations for the dinosaurs, and then of course the much desired JP/LW DLC Pack with skins and buildings. An this game will be everything we ever dreamed of, or at least pretty dang close to it.

Agreed. The current fights are no better than JPOG and one should keep in mind that JPOG came out in 03...(kinda sad when you think about it). I built a ''fighting arena'' last time and had some carnivores battle. It's amazing how all fights are the same. It's so unrealistic and boring. I can't help but repeating it...

Also when it comes to terrain tools I'm really disappointed that you can't even re-build an actual Jurassic park. For example, you can't really make that huge drop in the T. Rex enclosure in JP93. Nor can you do some proper hills or waterfalls or anything that would make the enclosure really unique. Yes, I know some people have done some amazing things with what's there and I wish I was that creative, but let's keep it real the enclosures still feel super empty and generic...also last time I tried to flatten Nublar and it was an absolute chore...so even what we currently have is mediocre at best.

The game has so much potential and is generally speaking really good. But I'm not confident that they'll ever take that last step towards greatness.

Your thoughts are on par with the general consensus of everyone on this board.

The game is pretty much dead until we hopefully get a big decor/terrain tool update. If that is done right then all will be good but until then this game is sadly on life support. I have spent 195 hours on this game which is probably far more than it deserves so it is safe to say that there is nothing left for me to do until these basic but necessary changes are made. Dont get me wrong I love the game, but much of why I love it is because I enjoy driving around the parks I made and touring it as a tourist so it is hard for me to keep doing that when every park and every island is the same green hills and jungle.
