State of the game

Understandable that frontier developments have been affected by the covid 19 but the game is in a terrible condition, today when i logged on i was apparently no longer in a squadron and my fellow squad members faced same issues(This is a bug, i wasn't kicked). After this the servers decide to go down which have became a regular occurrence and i have to ask, does frontier care anymore because this is very annoying, everyday theres a problem with the game?

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I suddenly had ppl messaging me asking why I removed them from my friends list. I didn't but the game didn't show me online at all. Had to screenshot it to show they were still there.

Honestly I just don't give a crap about this game anymore. If the devs just don't care or are incompetent it doesn't really matter because we have what we have and it won't change. We have to wait over 6 months longer for odyssey because we're just not that important. Despite all the extra wait our version will still be buggy as crap, well get our standard 3 patches and that's it.

Its sad its came to this though

Just prior to playing ED, I was heavily involved with Armored Warfare. The game was IMO, more fun to play than WOT.

Unfortunately, the console version fell far behind the PC version in terms of patches and updates even though it was newly released in 2018.

Out of the blue one day, it was unceremoniously announced that further development and support for the console version was ceased to put all resources into the PC version.

I see the same indicators creeping in here and I sincerely hope that the same fate doesn't befall ED on console.

Some are saying that Odyssey will include a big code refresh. Maybee that's true and will fix alot of problems. It would make sense not to spend time working on this version if your just replacing it in a few months.
Well they already said they aren't switching to dedicated servers so i wouldn't hold my breath on it.

I played armor warfare, it was fun but no one seem to be playing it, i miss playing chromehounds on xbox 360 but sadly by the time i had xbox live the multiplayer had been discontinued, sad to see as it was an amazing game.

I played that game briefly. That's a shame. I see what you're saying. This refusal for fdev to port the game to next gen consoles seems very telling that this might be the case.

I had the same experience. By the time I got XBL the servers were closed. I played the tutorial at least half a dozen times. I would have no lifed that game. Hawken seems to be an adequate alternative IMO. they also have bots you can play against that are very close to the real thing.

If the "in-game" screenshots are to be believed, then the graphics have received an enormous overhaul, and that would appear to extend not just to Odyssey, but also the base game.

Fdev haven't "refused", that's a gross mischaracterization.

You can go full "doom and gloom" mode when the autumn comes and we still haven't had a next gen announcement. Right now, it's far too early to call it, Odyssey was only delayed a couple of weeks ago, so all their development plans will be being reviewed given the shift in schedule.

The developers are showing signs of abandoning consoles. That doesn't mean they for sure are but it is an indication. As examples used in the abandonment of other games PC eliteism does extend to developers as well as players.

As a long time Xbox CMDR myself, I hope you'll take this in the manner it is meant. If you really love this game and want to continue on playing it, consider making the leap to PC. I've been on PC now for over a year and the game is night and day difference. Loading times, frame rate, clarity, graphics...the whole kit and kaboodle. I almost can't even play on the XBox anymore because I've been spoiled by PC. I know it's a significant investment and some can't make that, to get a PC that can run it well, but if you can, I'd suggest you go. Not to mention the third party tools and whatnot that are available...and different HUD colors.

My condolences, though, seriously. Hope it gets sorted soon.

I would love a pc but it can be quite expensive if you want something decent.

Hardly conclusive, is it? I`m puzzled why people would feel this way about something which isn't actually confirmed.

The extended delay to console release means that Frontier have to reconsider next-gen versions of the game, because at that point it`ll be almost a year since the release of the new machines, and not releasing on them in Autumn / Winter 21 will stick out like a sore thumb.

So, if we see no announcement by the end of the Summer, then you will have something to get upset about.

Because we have 0 faith in this company

You may be right but the lack of communication on their part is what drives rumors and speculation. Next gen consoles are more capable of handling the game itself and there is a strong playerbase to make a profit

Straw man argument. We are speculating. There is no emotion in it. It is stupid to believe from a business standpoint that fdev would drop consoles but so is the culture PC eliteism yet developers do it anyway despite the number of monthly xbox and steam players are almost exactly the same.
