Powerplay STATEMENT ABOUT THE INFINITE POWER DATA PORT BUG

Ahoy!

We've already talked about this abundantly in our discord server sections, but we didn't make a statement about the infamous Power Data Port Bug yet.

The Archon Delaine Powerplay group has never and most importantly will never condonde any bug/exploit abuse in game.

If we will have proof that some of the players in here are still currently exploiting that bug, even against groups that are actively doing the same with us or any other groups, they will be banned from our servers without mercy and immediately.

We might be pirates, scoundrels, gankers, killers, whatever you think about yourself in game, but we will never ever be cheaters. We're better than our enemies, always have been, always will be.

Thanks for the comprehension.

Funny thing is I've already found something even more effective (and perhaps more broken) than the data exploit o_O see this thread https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...erits-per-hour-with-no-way-to-counter.630213/
I've seen that and I think it's even less effective than regular rares hauling to be honest. Something that should be fixed sooner than later of course, but at least not as game breaking than the data port bug (that is worth up to 50k merits /hour, maybe even more).

I tried that just now and I don't understand how it's possible to get that much as I only got 8k in exactly one hour. I did everything under ideal circumstances too, started the timer just before downloading, and I chose the data that was quickest to download too (10 secs download time). How reliable are your numbers, where did that info come from?

Edit: I just realized that merits gained from the same activity isn't consistent, there seem to be a lot of factors including power ethos, system state, distance, and a bunch of yet unknown factors. However I conducted my tests at a Stronghold system so I believe the numbers I got should be close to the maximum possible level for general reference? certain powers such as YG enjoy bonuses for this but mine doesn't so it should be good for general reference.

I would love not to give advices about this bug, but there's plenty of way you can actually be more effective than that.
Anyway. For us any abuse is a no-no. Simply that.

Of course, best to be as secretive about the details as possible. However I believe it's necessary to be as open about the statistics as possible without giving away actual details. Knowing the right numbers helps raise awareness and in turn helps the community and FDev make the important decisions. Right now I'm just trying to get a sense of the scale and severity of the problem.

Let's say that using a particular asset in the game you can literally drop huge bombs of data in no time. Using another one of those assets you can basically go nuclear. More than efficiency per se is the combination with dropping them alltogether that makes this bug extremely devious.

I don't understand how FDev can destroy trade and exploration merits day 1 but ignore this lever completely and all we get in the meantime is a focused feedback on Ship Transfer Times... Baffles me why this bug is still around and works and there is no post or indication at any upcoming patch/balancing/bugfixes and/or policy in dealing with exploits.

dang, that sounds very bad indeed... how many players are exploiting this? If this is being used frequently enough one might consider quitting powerplay for a couple weeks until the bug gets fixed. No fun in fighting cheaters after all.

IKR! They could have done a server broadcast to all players warning them that sanctions will be applied if they use the exploit. Even if it may take some time to fix they could still regulate player behavior.

These things are rarely a very large number of players. Tens last week, I'd guess, from what information it's convenient to pick up from the various in-game interfaces and the quoted merit earning rates involved - at least in terms of those using it to get a substantially higher number of merits than would otherwise be possible, and using those merits to affect systems in a coordinated fashion.

(Might end up being more than that this week, though, now that the merits achieved that way have been allowed to stand and change system statuses)
