Horizons STATION and INSTALLATIONS NPC TRAFFIC

Just a thought for the devs, can we see an increase in more traffic (ships) around stations and installations, the galaxy esp: in the bubble should be alive with ships and some main faction stations should be teaming with ships, almost like a highway, can the level of NPC around stations be increased this will add more immersion to the game mechanics.

thoughts anyone.

highly depends on
a) is it a system controlling station
b) which state has the controlling faction
c) and what is the population of that system

... a cotrolling station with a faction in boom in a large population system is a very busy place already.

This is what i thought as I have been around boom stations/factions and seems a little quiet, guess im thinking that more npc could be added or double along the lines of the materials which were doubled for commanders, even having to wait in a que for station landing or coming out things of that nature.

Even major systems like Lave, Sol, Archenar all seem pretty quiet. I know space is big, but the shipping lanes from jump point to major station of systems like these should be teeming with traffic really... These are major hubs (like Jita in EVE), but the stations always seem fairly quiet.

High population systems should be much busier, agreed.

The relatively low traffic numbers we see presently could be because of the way NPCs are generated by each player's client.. NPC numbers are linked to the number of players in an instance, so the more players together in the same instance means more clients generating NPCs.

That probably explains why Sol or Achenar and other "big" systems have low apparent NPC traffic, its because the game isn't looking at system population stats to spawn NPCs, but rather is based on the number of players. If a system is full of players, it should fill up with NPCs too.

Might explain why Sol is so empty, since it doesn't tend to have much player traffic.

I think it would be much better if NPCs were spawned based on BGS stats instead: big population systems in Boom should be practically congested IMO.

I'd also like to see generally much bigger flows of NPCs moving between stations, as well as to and from inhabited planets; So many that the "shipping lanes" are easily visually apparent on scanners just from looking at the flow of ships.

[up] I like the idea of the amount of NPC traffic around a port being tied to that systems status, more traffic in boom, war, expansion systems and less in famine, bust and outbreak state systems. More "rescue" type NPC ships in famine and outbreak systems too could help indicate their status, more luxury liners, yachts, etc. in Boom state systems and more military Capital ships, Corvettes, etc. in War state systems. Thoughts?

I'm sure FD is aware of the bare traffic and it's probably because of performance hits that there isn't more realistic amounts of it.
