Station authority ships

Anybody else find it frustrating that the Authority ships that hang around outside stations and scan traffic are all flown by partially sighted pilots or by their guide dogs?

Why is it when I'm flying in a straight line towards my next jump point waiting to exist mass lock and one of these idiots flies into me, I get fined for it?!?!?!?!

We call it "Scramming" - they become so fixated on the results of the scan they stop paying attention to where they're going.

Either that, or it's "Scramming" - A Scam by the station to bleed a little extra money out of you by ramming you and assigning you the fine.

Of course, if you keep your speed to 99 or less, they can ram into you all they like, and nothing happens but flight control complaining.

I find it odd that this apparently happens so often to other people. It almost never happens to me since I learned how to align with the slot before exiting SC.

The only times I've been rammed by station security have been when I was flying from the far side of a station towards the slot. The security ships like to run loops around the station for some reason, and I had a few close encounters when crossing their racetrack. Since I learned to disengage on the same side as the slot, though, I haven't had any problems.

Oh, yeah, and the same thing applies for departures. There's no need to pull a 180 straight out of the slot to get out of masslock. In fact, I'm pretty sure it takes longer anyway. Just keep flying straight-ish until the masslock light goes off, then start spooling up the drive and turning toward your destination.

What if they blow up on impact? That’s always been my worry with those SLFs buzzing around the mail slot.
