Station docking priority - too much time wasted

Hi all
Can anyone advise if there is any kind of priority given to docking requests? eg, If I've been within the no fire zone for 20 mins and request to dock, can I be pipped by someone that's just arrived?

Just spent best part of 30 mins at Hartsfield Plant waiting to get docked to complete a mission. All other players I talk to are waiting, too

Really frustrating. The game needs to give an indication that pads are full and likely wait time

Why on Earth don't you just switch to solo mode if your docking permission gets refused??? Instead of wasting 30 minutes of your life?? Absurd.

First to request when a slot is free=win.

They should implement a queue tho. Then we can determine if its faster to save and exit -> solo -> sock ->save and exit -> open play or stay in open play from the start.

I can think of one reason for not switching to Solo... Trying to rank up to win the prize money. Switching disqualifies you.

Leave the starter systems. Play solo or just drop to solo to get your missions. But really, leave the starter areas.

Pretty sure it's a quickest on the trigger scenario once an occupied pad is cleared. Big advantage to the guys with multiple monitor setups as you can watch the pads lighting when someone leaves in one window and be ready to renew your landing request in the left window . As soon as the pad lighting goes off when someone leaves you hit the request button and get permission. Busy outposts can be a pain when you're running out of time. Only experience can give you a sense of what's reasonable at a given site. That's one of the reasons that commodity trading is so much the better option right now. The clock only runs out when dinner is ready.

I only had one request deny in my entire elite career so far. And I only play open. And that was not a player, but an NPC at an outpost.

so tell me how this works - I see someone leaving, request permission to dock and am told to go to pad 2.
I do this and try to dock - but note, I don't see the usual pad number and timer in the HUD. When I try to dock, I get fined for pad blocking

I was definately told to dock as saw it on INFO....

Anyways, about 10 mins later I managed to get docked on pad 1.

Hoping something is done soon to improve this aspect of the game

I've seen this reported here in the forum before, but it's never happened to me.

EDIT: Waiting for a docking pad usually isn't a problem until you get into a ship that needs a larger pad. If you are at a station with only one pad that can accommodate your ship, you're more likely to run into this situation.

Would be handy to know when you scan a station if it were to tell you how many pads it had, and how many were compatible with your ship and ETA for docking/priority in queue?

Are you inside the 7.5km request bubble when you request permission?

I've never had to wait to dock since the game was released. I play in open all the time.
