Newcomer / Intro STATION DOCKING PROTOCOLS

Time to venture out of the nest (temporarily) and outfit my ship. Will be going to a high tech and I assume somewhat crowded station.

Have interacted mostly with npcs when docking/departing in my starter systems. I know to stay on the green side and to request clearance but am wondering what (if any) protocols exist for docking/departing from space stations with other players. I'd like to keep my bumbling to a minimum if possible.

Other players? Full throttle mate, everyone for themselves and hope they don't shoot at you.

Only a station hosting a CG is likely to be so busy that you'll be arriving/departing at the same time as other players. In a normal busy-ish system, you'll mostly see other players out in open space or docked on the landing pads.

As a newer player, if you DO encounter another player in the airlock slot, just wait for them to pass. They're likely as not to boost unexpectedly, and that's how you wind up splashed across the windshield of a Cutter.

It is mandatory to boost out of the mailslot!

I had and caused some wonderful rebuys doing that. Oh the Glory!

And if you mean the pilot federation systems - such as dromi, matet, etc. (The nest?) I think your permit may be revoked after you dock outside the district.

DeLacy India Golf Golf, maintain your current approach for 1000 meters.. and prepare to set down on landing pad zero one!

If you insist on docking (landing) manually, watch the targeting blue dot when you come through the slot, it will point you in the general direction of your landing pad. As rupee noon said, you will not be allowed to return to the protected starter area once you dock so make sure all your missions have been completed. You'll be off the porch with the puppy's and hangin' with the big dawgs.
