Station doors shutting

Has anybody else actually seen a station with the slot closed?

The first day of beta I attempted to dock in Azeban city and I actually watched as the station entrance slowly opened in front of me. I have no doubt it was a bug but it begs the question, is this a defense mechanism? Or just a mechanic for when stations open for business? I'd love to witness it again as long as it doesn't require invoking the star ports wrath.

I guess those huge hydraulics actually have a functional purpose. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I saw it when the game was struggling briefly yesterday. I didn't get a screenshot because I hit the wrong button. My guess is it's something stations can do - which would be odd. Or a graphical quirk caused by the way the station redraws itself.

What happened was there was no cattle grid and where the letter box normally is there was a gap that was almost square - as wide as the letter box but taller. Then it seemed like metal doors from above and below closed the gap completely. It all sounds a bit Mario but that is what it looked like. I know - no picture didn't happen. Then I was kicked out of the game.

No but in a metaphorical sense..yes.
Been trying to get docking clearance for Chango Station , tried for 15 minutes.
Denied without reason.

I saw the cattle grid and airlock disappear and ticketed it. You can see the station glitch at 5-6 seconds while I asked for permission to dock. Just before that the station repeatedly denied permission for no obvious reason, which was just rude!

That for me means I have lost sync with something - save, exit, log back in and the station will accept your request once more.

Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full...

This has happened to me too and it's because all the slots are taken. Just had to wait it out.

Denied without reason a couple of times yesterday- took ages to get clearance.

(Bit like married life actually)

So far this is the closest example of what I experienced. I'm sure we've all seen the station disappear once or twice but this was unique because of the hulking doors closing shut and then opening again.

If it's just the way the station redraws itself then that's a pretty interesting way for it to be done. I'd like to see this mechanic used for something else. Perhaps amassing a large enough bounty could result in the station literally shutting you out on approach, for example. Like the old west, when a really bad guy comes into town everyone locks their doors and close their windows.

Please forgive any grammatical errors or incoherent sentences. I've been awake for far too long because of reasons...*cough*cough* Elite Dangerous...*cough*

Do you remember where you were? I've got a feeling I was at Chango Dock . It was certainly one of the Coriolis stations with some red in the lighting.

During my experience, it was just outside of Azeban literally minutes after standard beta was released. Needless to say after seeing that happen, I hyperspaced out of there and went looking for a friendlier place to dock. Azeban didn't seem too inviting at the time.
