station interiors are not interactive enough.. lets fix that

So, the station interiors make me think that Fdev designers played X4 and decided to steal that entire look and feel.

How about instead, some of the stuff that looks like it should be interactable, is.

Idea #1:
The computer consoles that are in the station everywhere. Make these respond to player interaction. Showing some stats and stuff. But if you play around a bit more, you find an entertainment menu to play the full Elite 1984 game on the console. The controls will switch to ship flight controls while engaged with the game and the display fills your visor. People walking by will see you're playing elite as you stand there like a drone. Your progress and state in the game is persistent, so you can suspend it and come back where you left off whenever you want.

It's elite within elite. Boom.

idea #2:
Feral cats live in stations. You must gather materials as treats for the space cats to befriend one. Once a space cat is your friend, he/she follows you around wherever you go (except planet side). Kind of like your employeed co-pilots. You can't customize your space cat, so you must find one you like by chance and win them over with skillful use of treats. Space cats have their uses as well... if you're talking to a rather uncooperative npc, your space cat will rub against them and release their space parasites to mind control them into being nicer to you. Maybe you're being mind controlled ... wait, why are you doing what the space cat wants and what does it have to do with raxxla?

idea #3:

some stations should be falling apart / under construction / in disrepair etc based on the overall economy of the system or state of the system. The npcs should have idle chatter related to this. Some of the idle chatter should be about you due to your reputation as you walk near any.

Idea #4:

There should be galnet displays running current news stories all over the concourse. Getting near one and interacting with it will feed the display into your helmet for a more full-screen view and clearer audio. This would include feeds of local news. Many of the audio only clips would be the local news anchors talking to the camera with some text/headlines and other newsy graphics scrolling by as they talk. Their mouths syncing to the audio so it looks like they're talking ..etc.

Except for in X4 tons of NPCs doing random stuff, cleaners & rando's, turbo lifts to various offices and shops; where you could also go space walk and explore the exterior... and the size of the stations in comparison with various sized ships coming and going, and you could teleport to your ship or board it, walk across the bridge to sit in the pilots chair (that your NPC crew would vacate for you), and where tons of traffic (inc space pirate shootups) happened just outside the station in full view of the player... more like a shadow of a copy...

Idea 3 - With Fdevs love of RNG in hiding needed materials from players I'm honestly shocked they didn't even do this, for stations, bases and plant life. With 400 billion star systems to explore it's going to be weird finding the same 50 plants (exaggeration for effect) and 10 base styles across the entire galaxy.

Actually, thinking about Idea 1, those screens should open virtual spaces for space training flights - and trying out different weapon / engine configurations (like they had in the original Wing Commander in 1990), the 12v12 capture the flag virtual arenas (so instant fights) and waiting rooms for CQC plus maybe a copy of Frontier: First Encounters to play (in VR... would be so cool).

You lost me at #2 the addition of cats would have my character always helmeted and on life support and probably hunting for the atmosphere dump panels.

no no no.. Still awesome. Because you get to play the anti-histimine mini game. You must locate the station's drug store (it's in a different place for each station) and get a dose before your timer runs out and your throat closes up and you die. This only happens if you come in close proximity to a space cat.

Either that or we can say that space cats do not carry the same proteins in their hair and skin that old earth bound cats had specifically to eliminate allergic reactions to them.

They only exist to be marketed in trailers and videos, they won't put any extra work into them beyond that.
