Would you have a problem with FD adding a memorial to Robin Williams in game?

Many of us will have grown up watching Robin Williams' movies, not realising that he was also a gamer - building his own PCs, and naming his daughter after Zelda from the game series.

Today is a sad day and shows how depression can hit even the most well know people in the world, as well as normal every day people. Depression is a pervasive and insidious liar. It'll have you thinking nobody in the world gives a damn about you.

I myself have suffered from depression and would mention that if anyone has negative feelings - make sure you speak to someone such as your GP, local health advisor or even give The Samaratins a call.

In light of his tragic passing today I'd like to suggest that we honor such a great entertainer within the Elite universe with a station named after him - either with his real name, or with one of his great characters.

edit: His daughter Zelda does a Twitch Play Live for charity, raising money for St Judes Childrens Hospital (if you had any doubt his family are gamers)

Edit: Poll added, apology for the spelling mistake - I can't seem to edit it now :(

It's a terrible irony that someone as universally loved as Robin Williams should suffer such depression that suicide seems an acceptable alternative. The world is a poorer place for his loss, he will be greatly missed.

I'd love to see a memorial to the man who made "Mork from Ork" and so many other wonderful characters come to life. Perhaps a "Mork" station circling a "Mindy" moon, which itself circles a gas giant named "Orson" in the "Ork" system.

Rest in peace Robin. We'll miss you.

Dang... This is not what I was expecting to read logged in on this board. Mr. Williams is one of those rare people you can truly call genius. His death is a minus for the world we live in. :( He was dealing with depression, they're saying. Who knows how many people he saved from depression with his humor? But he couldn't save himself. :(

RIP Robin

Indeed.
Unfortunately it seems to be quite prevalent amongst comedians.

Robin was like that slightly embarrassing uncle who whilst sometimes he might have made you cringe, more often than not he was making everyone laugh.

Seconded. My wife told me just before I read this thread, sad news. I remember the first time I saw one of his live performances, the funniest thing that night was my Dad laughing at my reaction to Mork from Ork swearing profusely, and he didn't once say nanoo..

Yup nothing but great memories of this king among entertainers. I am sure we can find him a space among the millions of stars in ED.

Oh my... I didn't hear about that 'till now. :(

Yea, the world can be a harsh place for the intelligent and sensitive... very sad, he was one of the great ones, in my opinion.

It is sad Robin Williams died. And the fact that it apparently was a suicide is even sadder, but I'm against it.
This game is set in the far future and I do not feel it would be appropriate to name stars, planets or whatever after any Hollywood star who happens to die during the development stage of the game. What is next? Sylvester Stallone binary system? The Schwarzenegger supernova? Britney Spears space dock? Robert de Niro Planet?

Please let's leave the world of Hollywood movie stars, pop stars and what have you outside of the game as much a s possible.

Usually I'd agree with that, but since I was a fan (of his standup comedy, not so much his movies) I think it's a good idea... and, frankly, what's the harm calling a station "Port Williams" or something like that? Games are a product of their time, afterall.

So if someone happened to be a fan of Stallone, Spears, Rihanna etc. etc you would use the same reasoning?

But I would not at all be surprised if there was a Port Williams already in the game somewhere. It is such a common and neutral name.

I have to agree. I loved his work in Mrs Doubtfire and Flubber. Maybe a port called Doubtfire Dock? Robin will be greatly missed.

Well, aside from the fact that none of those "stars" hold a candle to Robin Williams, sure, why not? I'm not saying it has to be super prominent, just a little nod... but you are probably right, it's very likely that something of that name already exists.
