I'm certain the nav computer knows whether an orbit line passes in front or behind a planet/star, it would be handy if the orbit line was colored such that the portion that is further away is red (as in red shifted) and the portion in front of a planet/star is blue. When coming in via Supercruise, this gives us a clue whether we need to prepare to duck under and go wide to avoid the slow down caused by the gravity well.
