Station repair info

Hi folks! I just returned after a hiatus due to a broken HOTAS issue. I haven't had a chance to deal with Thargoids yet and, TBH, I'd prefer not to for the most part. I am interested, however, in working to repair stations and/or help civilians. I didn't see a good newbie-ish level resource anywhere for exactly what to watch out for, though. Anyone have pointers for me?

Not a huge rush as I am using the trade CG to get the hang of things again, but I'm getting pretty good with the new HOTAS now so I figured it was time to start looking.

-If you're going to bring in commodities to help rebuild the repairing stations or bring in emergency supplies to the damaged stations, you need Cargo Racks.
-If you're going to transport refugees from the damaged stations, you need Passenger Cabins. Economy class is sufficient.
-There's escape pods and other things floating inside the damaged stations, you'll need Collector Limpet Controllers to get them without cooking your ships. Preferably several so you can launch a lot at once.
-Damaged starports are on fire until they go into repair mode, so bring lots of Heat Sinks.
-Make sure you're fairly competent at landing, because there's lots of floating debris in the landing bays.

Early video I did showing an evacuation from Titan's Daughter so you can what the conditions are:

Great, thanks! I definitely wouldn't have thought I'd need heat sinks. (Honestly that's a bit silly, I can fly in a sun's corona but a fire overheats me? Hehe) I might try commodities but the limpets and passengers actually sounds kind of fun too. Is there a recommended ship for that?

If you wanted to do everything all at once without having to reconfigure your ship, I'd probably think something in a Python would do. Maybe an Orca or a Type-7. My thought process for an efficient multirole ship in this effort is something that can hold at a minimum 48-64 passengers and 80-120 tons of cargo at the same time without having to swap modules back and forth. Any ship will do though, you'll just have to do more or less trips as the case may be.

I'm working on building a Type-7 and seeing how that works out because it's cheaper than a Python or an Orca and I like the Little Ships of Dunkirk vibe to it.

Excellent, thanks. I have a Python already and it's quite fun to fly compared to my Cutter. I have plenty of credits so modifying it to suit is no issue. I appreciate your help. :)

i flew in with a type10 and a class7 + a class3 limpet controller and two heat sinks (should have brought three)
thats usually enough to pick up most floating canisters quickly, unless your material storage is full.
limpets will eventually start to fail picking up things because they crash into station walls or floating debris.

the good thing is - you can take the collect missions at the rescue ship AFTER you have scooped lots of stuff. you just need to take at least two to refresh the board so you can turn in the first one.

if the system has an empire or federation minor faction, you can use this to rank up with lots of missions,
and ofc, you get lots of rare mats for this too (CIF)

Good to know, thanks. Gotta love the ranking up fast bit especially!
