Station traffic controllers

Morning all,

I am really enjoying the voices of the new air traffic controllers that appeared in 2.1
One of my favourites is the scotsman at Skvortsov Orbital:

"We will accept your use of automated docking, commander. This time...".

And:

"You are cleared for automated docking, commander. Next time, why don't you try learning to fly your ship, though?".

Those made me chuckle. Has anyone heard other amusing announcements?

I find them really annoying but I've not heard those you speak of.. but then I never use a DC just toooo slow for me.

I just think the voices should change a few times a day, that's one hell of a shift to work, more like slavery, so maybe imperial stations don't need to change

I like the addition. It brings a little more life to it than before. But it can grow tiresome to hear them all the time. I would rather have settings like Heavy Control (full dialogue), Medium Control (just the docking permission dialogue) and Off.

I do hope however that FD will expand this feature to give NPCs some simple lines at times. :)

I love it. As always, even more variety would be a good thing. Same lines read by different peeps would be fine. I haven't heard the Jock yet, but does that mean we get scousers, mancs and geordies, too? (Oh please be 'yes'! :D)

'Twould be nice if the NPCs attacking you read out their lines, too. Some harridan screaming 'I'm gonna burn you up!' would make my whole day, or some chilled to the max dude/dudette drawling 'I'm only here for the cargo'. Come on FD, make it so! [yesnod]

having once worked in an environment which involved real ATC, I like it EXCEPT for that scotsman suggesting you learn to fly your ship...because in real life an ATC controller who said anything like that would be ritually impaled for his unprofessional conduct, so it sort of jars whenever I hear it as it just doesn't seem right. It's only a ARGH! though, I think it's really well done otherwise.
Dave
Why ARGH! Because I typed a word that means 'a small annoyance' and some automatic wfiltering seems to assume it's some sort of slang term for a dark skinned wperson.... ENN EYE GEE GEE ELL EEEE is NOT a term of abuse for heaven's sake!

Not heard them... possibly because I've never had a docking computer.

Have to say i am impressed with the degree of variety though and with how (surprisingly) annoying they're NOT.

Great addition to a great game, if i have minor complaint it is that they are a tad to quiet, i mean when your throttling down with the ole Vette, the engine noise tends to blot out the initial broadcast.

I can't hear them usually. Even with os based auto volume management. I am flying an anaconda, and it seems engine roar drowns it out.

I thought it was just me!

3 things.

1/ Make sure your sound card or monitor doesn't have anything like "equalisation" or "Quiet mode" turned on that attempts to make all noises equally loud. This is commonly supplied for headphone wearers, or people who want to listen late at night.

2/ If that doesn't help, investigate the different profiles in ED. See if any work better.

3/ If that doesn't help, try going into the sound settings and turn all the other sounds down a bit (just to about 90 percent) - that will help a lot.

I have similar issues with the wave scanner being really quiet so I can hardly hear it over the idling engines in the SRV, and the whirr of the fans in my PC.

A nice querk would be a few simple short one liners upon request being granted...

A disinterested "Yeah, go on then"

Or possibly one like
Canadian: "Well, you can land on pad [==], eh?" "Docking computer assist? Hoser!"
California: "Dude! Pad [==] is clear so you can, like, land there if the energy is right, k?"
Minnesota: "Yah, pad [==] is waiting for ya, don't-ch-know."
Georgia: "Y'all can park it down on pad [==]."
New Jersey: "You'se can drop it on pad [==]. Don't use pad 01 since my buddy parks there."

I open the floor to other possibilities. :)

I like it very much, and found it greatly amusing when the controller said "Speed restrictions are in effect, reduce your speed!"; I wasn't in control, the docking computer was.
