Having worked my way up to the dizzy rank of Serf, I was hoping that the station would call me by my new title when I came in to dock. "You may land at 33 and be quick about it, Serf" would have quite a ring about it, and encourage me to become a Squire faster 
but my main point is that ranks actually don't do very much right now apart from give you access to a few not terribly useful permits and the odd ship, whereas here is a whole new ball game. "Fetch me 15 units of reactive armour, underling!" that kind of thing. No, seriously, what about it, Frontier?
