Stations out of service... any connection?

For people not keeping up on the news, there is a story line where malfunctions on certain stations have meant they have reduced service to just a shipyard. The cause of the malfunction is unknown at this time, but it is spreading like a virus. Has anyone been investigating this?

I had a look around at the various stations last night to see if I could find a connection, but didn't spot anything. They are different in star type, economy, allegience, government. The only thing I could think of was to map them and see if they are all around a central point, but I couldn't figure out how to do that effectively with the galaxy map.

Could it be related to the unknown artifacts?

Yes. There indeed are a number of players investigating this issue for a long time. Read the unknown artefacts mystery thread. It is most certainly caused by the UAs sold on the black markets of those stations.

It is UAs. Some of the stations are disabled by PP players of a faction that is immune to the tactic (because they don't have Black Markets to sell UAs at their stations).

But they still can't beat us.
