Stations that orbit Neutron ro White Dwarf Stars?

Saw a picture of a station in the same system as a white dwarf and I was just wondering if there are any research type stations out there in orbit around a white dwarf or neutron star?


Had an idea if thees research stations existed they could pass through the cones on their orbits, they would not be safe places to land until they came back out of the coane. This would make these stations harder to supply because of the intervals when you can and cannot land. Maybe even trapping your ship on the station making it very risky to try and escape when the station is passing through the cone.


Just a thought to make cargo hauling they're a bit more interesting.

There are stations in white dwarf systems - Van Maanen's Star and Sirius come to mind. There are possible stations in neutron star systems too.

But there are none that orbit the star so closely that they pass through the jet cone. Because an orbit going through a cone would be unstable.

There's a dedicated research base (not an ordinary station) near one... ohh, I forget the name, I visited not so long ago. I'll try and remember it.

I believe it's in the AMADIOHA system. Well worth a look.
